Anna programmed the GPS while I drove us out of Charlotte. It felt a little better when we reached the highway and could speed up without getting noticed by the police, or in the event that we had a pair of angry original brothers after us.

When we had been on our way for almost two hours we started to relax a bit, even though we still tensed up every time some car caught up behind us just to pass us and continue.

"Could you please tell me what happened?" Anna finally asked and I had to tell her everything from the beginning. How Klaus had reacted she remembered, but now she found out that all of his siblings had the same reaction. "What are you saying; I'm some kind of relative to them?"

I laughed a relieved laughter. "No, but your ancestor apparently were friends with the family," I explained. "And had a major crush on Klaus," I added.

"That's why I feel an attraction to him?"

I laughed. "No, it's because he's hot!" I said and she gasped.

"Don't tell me you going after him."

"Puh-leas." I glared at her. "But I spent last night in bed with him..." I was such a tease.

"Get out of here!"

A black car closed in on us and signalled and we almost stopped breathing, but they only wanted to get past us and then drove off. We let out a relieved sigh as we watched the car disappear in front of us and we had forgotten all about the teasing discussion about Klaus.

My phone chimed and I pulled it out of my pocket and saw as I looked at the display that it was Elijah.

"Elijah? What happened?"

"I just wanted to check on you, Emma, Klaus didn't answer," he explained.

"Klaus isn't with us, but he helped Anna and me to get away." Somehow I really wanted Elijah to know that Klaus had some good in him, as we all have. "But I'm a little concerned about him; he's with Kol."

Elijah was quiet for a short while. "Emma, your compassion is inspiring, but Klaus is a big boy, he can take care of himself."

I didn't know what to say to that.

"Elena has been here explaining what our mother has been up to."

What was I supposed to answer to that?

"Good!"

"Good?" he asked surprised.

"Yes, it's good that you know."

Elijah actually laughed at this.

A black car passed us in high speed and suddenly skidded in front of our, making me hit the brakes like crazy. My phone was the last thing on my mind as I was only centimetres from hitting the car on the side and I don't think I breathed at all.

Anna screamed like crazy.

The door on the other car flung open and Kol rushed out and jerked my door open. He had me by the neck and if I hadn't had my seatbelt on, he would have lifted me out of the car. Suddenly he was jerked back and I knew it was Klaus handy-work.

Kol launched himself at Klaus and it was really hard knowing exactly what was happening with their speed; it felt more like a cartoon, when all you see is a cloud of dust and you can barely pick out arms and legs once in a while.

This was a little more intimidation though.

Anna and I got out of the car and did our best to keep safe behind it. I was expecting one of them to take off, but to my surprise, the fight went on and on for what felt like hours.

Suddenly I saw Klaus by Kol's side, grabbing him and jerking him, finally getting him on his back and pulled out a dagger I recognised. He raised it to plunge it into his brother's chest.

"No, stop! If you kill him, all of you will die!" I yelled.

They both gasped and looked surprised at me. "What?"

I stared surprised back at them. What had I done?
Klaus was at my side in an instant. "What has your Salvatore brothers done?" he spat out.

"No! It was your mother, Ester," I blurted out and once again realised that I had said more than I should have.

Kol was at my side in a split second; once again with his hand around my throat. "You're lying!"

Klaus got a grip of Kol's leather jacket and pulled him backwards, which threw me of balance and made me fall forward.

Kol was trying to launch himself at me again, but Klaus fought him off.

"Your mother told Elena, and she texted me," I called at the fighting brothers and they just stopped and stared at me. I sighed. "Apparently Elena's blood was the thing that completed the spell that bound you together."

They stood all still, staring at each other and at me.

Suddenly Kol launched himself at Anna, making her fly backwards into the car, next to the opened door. The thump made me jump and I heard Anna groan and then she fell to the ground. Klaus got after him in an instant and jerked him off of Anna.

Unexpectedly their fast fighting stopped and both of them just fell to the ground all still.

Anna got up and I went around the car and there we both stood looking at the sibling rivals as they went all grey and their veins showed.

"Are they dead?" I shrieked. "Damon will die!"

Anna shrieked something about who daggered who before we recalled that one of their daggers wouldn't kill them.

It took a few seconds before we understood that this was our chance to get away and when that thought hit us we started to yell and run around like headless chickens.

"We got to get out of here!"

"How long will they be out?"

"Get in the car!"

"Get the key from Kol!"

"Go, go, go!"

"We can't leave Klaus!"

At that statement we got completely still. We both knew we couldn't leave Klaus; we rushed over to him and somehow we managed to get him in through the car door and into the backseat. Don't ask how we did it, because none of us are that strong but somehow we made it, jumped in the car and spurted out of there.

We heard my iphone chime and Anna found it down by her feet and answered quickly. "This is Anna."

"Anna, put the speakerphone on!" Damon ordered and she did as she was told. "Emma, are you okay?" I heard him ask.

"Yes, we're okay. Suddenly they just dropped." I noticed myself shrieking and took a deep breath.

"What happened?" we both asked.

"Are you safe now?"
He didn't answer our question, but just repeated: "Are you safe?"

"Yes, we got the hell out of dodge when they dropped."

We could hear how he exhaled relieved.

"We even got their car key," Anna said with a smug expression.

Damon chuckled. "Good girls! Now you take it easy and get home in one piece, we'll fix the rest."

"Thanks, we'll do our best," we said and ended the call with a relieved sigh.
