The Salvatore brothers took me home as soon as I settled down and stopped crying. Elijah had promised me to do all he could to find Anna and make sure she was safe.

I had a hard time concentrating on anything but the sadness and despair I felt, thinking of Anna.

What had happened? Was she okay, or was she laying somewhere, hurt or maybee dying?

The entire evening I spent in Damon's arms, with Elena and Stefan around, trying to keep my hopes up in different ways. Let's say Elena's way was a lot more sympathetic than Stefan's vindictive ways.

"I have to trust Elijah to help me," I told them. "You trusted him Elena, and he really came through for you, right?"

She nodded.

"It's Klaus I don't trust," Stefan said and started to pace back and forth in the room. "Why would he take her? Who is Annora and why do they look alike?" He was firing questions at a pace we had no chance in answering.
My head started to really pound. I needed aspirin and got up on tired legs.
"Where are you going?"
"I need aspirin," I said tired, not having enough energy to be irritated.

"Sit down, I'll fix it for you, sweetie. Do you want anything to eat as well?" Damon surprised the others with his caring voice.

I shook my head, knowing I couldn't get a bite down. He was back unbelievably fast with a bottle of water and the can of aspirin and shook out two pills for me. I just smiled weakly.

"Anna made some genealogy research last year, but she only got back to 1654, I think. All of them were in Sweden and Denmark," I told them in my tired voice. The others looked at me, just waiting for me to continue. "I mean Elijah and Klaus and the others are way older, it's impossible to get that far back, there are no records."

They looked at each other and nodded. It seemed impossible.

"There was nothing in the cave under the Lockwood estate that could prove anything," Elena said. "The only way to find out is through someone who was around then; like someone in the Mikaelson family."

I looked up at her and the look intensified. She was absolutely right, if I wanted answers I needed to go to Elijah again.

"That is not something we're gonna do tonight," Damon objected in a harsh voice. "Tonight we're just gonna go to bed and get some sleep, and then we will confront Elijah once again - tomorrow."

I looked at him with tears welling up in my eyes. What would I do without him? He had become so much more to me than I could ever have imagined.
He put his arm around my shoulder and just nodded toward his room. I gave him a weak smile and we rose from the couch and left Stefan and Elena.

We continued the conversation when we had got under the covers. "I have to do what I can to get her back, you understand, right?"

"Yes, I understand perfectly. I was working like crazy when Stefan was gone," he revealed to me even if he had kept it a secret to Elena. "I didn't want her to meet him as his alter ego, the ripper."
I looked a little surprised at him. "I cared about her, but more about him. He wouldn't want her to see him like that. Feeding so hard he was ripping the poor people apart. I've seen him like that before, especially in the beginning." He was lost in thoughts for a while and I didn't want to disturb him.
"Luckily his compulsion broke off, before you got here," he said sweetly and I smiled at him.

Once again I thought about how amazingly sweet he was and how much he meant to me. How was I supposed to leave him and go home to Sweden in just another week or so. I refused to check exactly how many days I had left.

Ignorance is bliss, right?

It took a long time before I fell asleep, cradled in his arms.
