I sit on our porch and smile, listening to the laughter of my two children. I look up to see the beautiful sky and feel the warm breeze against my hair. I smell the steaks that Chad is cooking next to me. My youngest child, Alex walks up to me. "Mommy, when is dinner ready?"
"About half an hour, how about you go and set the table with Ella?"
"Okay!" He excitedly says. He yells to Ella then they both run in to go "set" the table. I smile again, close my eyes, and sigh.
"This really is perfect, isn't it." Chad says to me. I open my eyes and look at him, smiling.
"It's everything I would have ever dreamed of Chad. Thank you." I get up and go over and hug him.
"You're welcome babe. I love you."
"I love you too Chad."
We stay in this embrace until we hear a scream and a crash come from the kitchen.
"Oh frick. I'll go get them." Chad runs into the house, and I laugh, sit back down and close my eyes.
Thank god for my terrible day a long, long time ago.
