7: Lily
Incoming video call from ViVi Bear 🐨🤘🏻
I groaned as my phone rang, my eyes still closed. I shot out a hand and began to reach for my phone blindly. As soon as it fell from my nightstand from my aggressive hand thrashing, I was forced to get up and pick it up.
I answered Violet's call, as her face pulled up on my screen. "Yo, what do you want?" I ask sleepily.
"Lil, are you on drugs or something?" Violet half-joked.
"No, I just woke up." I yawned, getting back inside my blankets. "I miss you so FREAKING MUCH. School has been a fugging female-dog to me."
"Yeah, I might be there tomorrow to save your ass." She rolled her eyes, than coughed; a horrible, throat-paining one this time. "Sorry, this cough is killing me."
"Sure sounds like it." I snorted.
Silence.
"So, how's you and that Jacob kid?"
I immediately sat up, as if I had been energetic and awake this whole entire time. "What are you..." I started.
"Come on, I can read in between the lines. It's literally been 'oh, Jacob this', and 'oh, Jacob that'." She scoffed.
I frowned. Had I really been talking about him that much? "Well, he..." I started again, trying to think of a way to answer Vi's question.
"He?"
"He...has a girlfriend."
"Aw, that sucks. He seemed cute. Who's the lucky girl?"
I cringed. "Sierra Carling."
"Ew," I could practically hear Violet cringe. "You need to get over that guy."
"...okay?" I answered, confused.
"You said he was smart, and sweet, and cute." Violet listed.
"And?"
"And boys that smart and sweet don't date freakin' hoes like Sierra Carling!" She hissed, making me burst into a fit of laughter.
"Well, I'm completely over him." I said simply, in a matter-of-fact tone. "Guess what?"
"What?"
"Well, I met someone, and I think I might...you know," I smiled.
"Ooh, Lil's got a boyfriend!" She teased, flashing me a mocking grin. "So, who's the lucky guy?"
"His name is Brandon. Brandon Rowland, I think. We started texting today, and-"
"Wait, wait, wait. Brandon. Brandon...Rowland?" Violet's face flickered to an expression of worry and recognition.
"Yeah, I just said th-wait. Violet?" My glad expression soon enough transformed into one one worry, just like Violet's. "Are you..." I watched as a few tears fell from her eyes, before she covered them in her hands. I heard her breath shake as she cried, and I heard her choke and cough. I stood there awkwardly; this was one of the only times I had nothing to say to my best friend. I waited patiently as she finished bawling; her eyes red and puffy and her hair slightly wet and messy from her constant swiping from her sleeve.
"Lily, do me one favor."
"What?"
"I...He...I lov...He br...Him, and I...Just please, for me, don't dat-"
"Lily, come down, please!"
My attention was broken off from Violet and now on my mom, who was calling me.
"Coming, Ma!"
I hung up.
