We carefully walked to the screening room together, as Brandon was careful to not spill the popcorn. I kept sneaking a few bites of it to make it less heavy.
Hey, it's a lazy person's way of helping others.
A buzz from my phone caused me to almost spit my popcorn out.
Snapchat from Sierra Carling
I rolled my eyes, not wanting to check it out. I already expected what the picture was. Still, I tapped on it. A picture popped up, and soon enough, there showed the puppy-dog filter couple.
The caption read, "movie date!! 😘🔥🍿"
I looked at the picture, frowning. No, it wasn't the picture itself or even the sappy caption, but the background.
The background they had in the photo was right in front of us.
I looked up from my phone, right in front of me, to see the same exact background, along with an anxious Jacob and Sierra, who was on her phone.
"Come on, B." I grabbed Brandon's hand, now in a rush.
"Wait, Lils, there's Jacob and them." He stopped, pointing to the exact people who I was trying to avoid.
"Oh, really? Wow!" I exclaimed, although it sounded rather fake. Well, it was fake.
"Yo, Jacob!" Brandon yelled across the hallway, catching Jacob's attention. Jacob looked up, and even Sierra, who looked very focused on her phone before.
"Hey!" Jacob called back, jogging to us. "Brandon and-" His voice faltered and so did his expression. It took a moment before he switched back to his previous smiling one. "Lily, hey!"
"Hey, Jacob." I shrugged, then turned to Sierra as Brandon and Jacob continued to talk about who knows what.
"So, Sierra." I tried to make conversation. "Nice snap." I showed my phone to her picture, which I had replayed.
"Yeah, I just love him." She smiled, sounding sweet but gloating at the same time. "Jacob...What can I say about Jacob? I'm not sure if you can say anything, can you, Lily?"
"Okay then." I gave her an awkward look before checking my phone. "Oh, B, it's almost time to get to the movie, and we're going to miss the previews!" I lied, because the movie wasn't going to start in about fifteen minutes. Still, I took his hand and led him to the screening room before Sierra and Jacob could process what was happening.
"Wait, what movie are you guys watching?" Jacob called after us, catching after us.
I continued to travel briskly down the hallway, faster this time. Brandon let go of my hand and stopped, turning to Jacob.
"We're watching that, um, new horror one, I don't know what it's called." Brandon said, as I tried to get his attention.
Sierra popped up behind Jacob, hugging him by the neck. "Ooh, we're seeing that too! So, this is a double date!" She chirped, taking Jacob's hand.
Double date?
