"Remember me telling you that my dad believed the Headmaster will call within the week, begging for us back?"

"Yesssss.." my best friend, Dani, replied.

I weas in my bedroom, talking over the phone. Sitting on the floor, I had my headpiece on my ear and my top half of the body stretched and folded over top of my folded legs. This was my favorite yoga pose, which I called the Fold-Up Flaggin'. It's part of what keeps me flexible for my soccer tricks, like what I did a week and a half ago. I don't go and work out like post people do, but do my soccer, yoga and jogging and I'm as fit as a horse.

"Well, he hasn't called. Yet. My dad still believes that we are going to that school, so he hasn't even handed in my registration for our school. Actually, it's not like we haven't had any calls at all. We have, except most of the them are from the guy named Gale that I was telling you about. The rest are either telemarketers or those girls again call-pranking everyone."

"They just don't know when to stop, do they? They've done it for years and everyone knows who they are, so what's the point anymore? It just pisses me off sometimes."

I know what you mean. Anyways, the point is, my dad's going overboard and I don't know what to do about it."

"I hear the pout in your face. It's not all about your dad, is it? It's about Gale!"

I laugh, half embarassed, half relieved. Dani knew me so well, I didn't have to explain half of anything to her, she gets it right away.

"Yes, it is. He hasn't called me in the past two days, and I think he got bored with me or something. I mean, we have been talking every day and now he just up and ignores? Kind of hopeless of me, but he's the first to actually talk to me like a normal human being. Besides you, I mean."

"I know the feeling. That's actually how Johnnie treated me before we got together."

"Yeah, yeah. He moved from New York to our neighborhood, bought you flowers, and surprised you at your house, getting on one knee and asking you to be his girlfriend, blah, blah, blah. I don't think Gale likes me like that, or even like me at all. But I was still hoping."

"Keep your hopes up! Maybe he got grounded for videotaping some secret school event, or something. He will call you soon enough. Just stop worrying and keep yourself busy until then."

I sigh.

"Fine. You're right. I'll just do something. But what am I supposed to do? I'm doing yoga right now, but my mind wanders. You're gone, so I don't have anyone to hang wi---"

There was a knock at my door. My dad barges in without asking, a skip to his step. There's this glint in his eye that I'm not liking.

"Hun, someone's at the door for you. I'm pretty sure you're going to like this surprise."

"Are you sure, Dad? Last time you said I was going to like one of your surprises, it turned out to be a old cat, I mean a really, really old cat, who had worms and turned out to be the guy who lives on Main street's cat."

He pulls me up to my feet as smooth as a cat itself. He grabs my earpiece and yells goodbye to Dani. I jumped to get the earpiece, yelling like a banshee to give it back, but he just held it over his head, walking backwards towards my bedroom door.
