As Jenny's name came closer and closer, I noticed that some group of girls were watching her and snickering, like they knew something horrid about her. Jenny obviously knew what they were snickering about because she threw a glare every time one of the girls laughed or talked loud enough for her to hear. Well, well, well. Looks like before school even started, she has made some social enemies. Maybe it won't be my life thats ruined. Again. Something called karma, I guess. What comes around, goes back around, or something like that.

I watched as she stood up, and realized her name was called. She flipped her hair, and stared at Mr. Benny, as if he was the center of her hearth. I shake my head in disguest, and Gale gave me a curious look.

"I'll explain later. All of it," I whispered to him.

Jenny could be a good actress if she put her heart into it, not her hormones. She doesn't have the right kind of passion for it, but if she did, she could be good. She clears her throat and moves her hand in a up and down motion, supposedly to be seductive? I'm not sure.

"Saw you mowing your lawn last night. Immediately I became intrigued. I love physical activity, but Carl Joe doesn't permit me. Then you were done. The light goes on in your TV room. You sit down, but you don't turn it on. you just sit there looking at the blank screen. "Goddang," says me to myself, "this is one Manchester honey who's different. must be some kind of unique thoughts filling up her head. Boy, am I excited. when i get excited, i have trouble breathing. It's a common occurrence with people of passion. Finally your light goes out. I don't go upstairs to Carl Joe, no ma'am. I sleep right there on the couch near the window. when i wake up, Carl Joe's already on the train to work, and Goddang if my smile wasn't better then ever. that's when i knew that little ole me had to come knock at your door and say "Hi!" Hi!"

As soon as she finished, I remember that I was the one to teach her that line when we wanted to joke around. It was something about a women, married to a man named Carl Joe, who watched another woman, her next door name, pining after her. I don't know if Jenny just didn't remember what that was about, but I knew it wasn't meant for a girl wanting a guy. Mr. Benny knew that too as he was a little uncomfortable, not looking back at her. As Jenny sat back down, the girls who were snickering at her before had quieted, looking at the back of her head in disgust. They obviously knew what that was, too.

As he went down the last names of the list, I forgot all about Jenny's monologue and focused on the other students. I realized some of the students have really good talent, but some of the others didn't even try. You can pick out the slackers and the people who are here for the theatre. There were A LOT of people in class, and he hasn't even gotten to The Sonter's boys yet. He had just gotten into the S's as Jenny sits up straighter, waiting for something, and acting like she's the queen of the school already.

First Gale was called and he performed a piece I had never heard of, but it still sounded good. Everyone clapped, and then it was Gabriel's turn. He didn't stand up but rather stared at a ceiling. He looked like he actually didn't want the attention of everyone, but didn't know what to do with it. I was ready to see him do a pretty bang up job of it, but as soon as he muttered his first words I was captivated. and as he spoke and impersonated Othello, he looked down at at me.

"To try me with affliction; had they rain'd

All kinds of sores and shames on my bare head.

Steep'd me in poverty to the very lips,

Given to captivity me and my utmost hopes,

I should have found in some place of my soul

A drop of patience: but, alas, to make me
