Last night was the night Gale and I played soccer in the dark. We had a blast, nad we plan on making it a tradition. We are going to be playing every Sunday night, at 10. I will be looking forward to it all the time, I had that much of a blast. The only dissapointing thing is that Gale didn't mention anything about our kiss. He hasn't tried another, or anything new. He didn't gaze into my eyes and confess his love for me. Okay, that was just me hoping. Anyways, it is now a Monday and my first class starts. I have Chem with Gale first, which he said he would be here to walk me to class and show me around. Then it's off to a 2-hour drama class!
*KNOCK KNOCK*
I go to the door, bringing my stuff, expecting Gale. Instead, when I open the door, Gabriel is standing there, with his dark eyes and bored/angry expression.
"Gale asked me to pick you up and meet him at the coffee shop. Hurry up. I'm not waiting for you, and you're already wasting my time."
I look at him, shocked and dazed, and didn't realize he was already walking. I shake out of my daze and hurry up after him, matching my pace with his easily. I watch him from the back in his plain jeans, white t-shirt, and black leather jacket. His hair was shaggy and falling into his eyes. If his hair was greased back and styled right, I could totally see him being Ren from Footloose, the newest version. he has the same look, dresses the same, and the vibe I get just makes me think of Ren, who is my favorite character. I mean, even his ass looks like his.
"When you're done staring at my ass, Gale is waiting for you right over there."
I follow his finger to pointing at Gale, who is sitting, drinking a coffee latte, while texting. I gaze at him, thinking about the kiss again and blush. I look up at Gabriel, who was watching me with amusement instead of that angry, bored look. I finally caught up to what he said, and realize he's probably thinking I'm blushing from being caught looking at his butt!
"I didn't realzied you liked me that much. Blushing after getting caught. How cute."
Amusement gone, he talked with a certain tone that had a dryness to it.
"If you think I like you, think again. I don't go for guys who are more into gazing in the mirrors, thinking how amazing you are. And for your information, I wasn't staring at your pathetic excuse of an ass. I was staring at the whole you have at the back of your leg jeans. Since I'm the kind of person who is considerate of other people's feelings, I thought i would let you know. You know, for such a big idiot as yourself."
He stared after me in shock as I walked away towards Gale. I was shot with adrenaline after my rant, feeling good after getting some of the steam of the stress out. Okay, so I lied about his ass, but so what? He's going to be a jerk, well he can get something right back. I'm not going to hide behind my shell like I did last year. Not here, and not ever again.
"Hey, why does my brother look pissed?"
I look back to see Gabriel staring at me with anger (like always) with his hand at the back of his leg, looking for the hole that was barely noticable but I thought would be funny to say.
"Oh, you know, girl problems, I guess. He didn't say anything on the walk here."
We walked to Chem which lasted for 2 hours, which isn't so bad but for your first day seems like forever. Then, it was time for our Drama class after a half hour break. While we were waiting, we decided to go to the school cafe. I ordered a mocha latte with extra shot of espresso. Gale ordered a plain latte, no added anything.
"I don't know how you could possibly like that stuff straight. I can't stand the bitter taste without a mix of sugar."
"Well, when i was 13, i had my first drink of coffee. My dad warned me about it being bitter but i didn't listen to him--"
I suddenly tune him out, hoping I'm imagining things, but I don't do that often. I see a single head bobbing through the crowd, blonde with the same red highlights that I remember. I close my eyes, remembering, but reopen them to make sure I wasn't just seeing things. Nope, I couldn't find her head again.
"SIENNA!!"
I shake my head out of the memories, and refocus back on Gale. He was looking at me with concern, while scanning for the crowd for whoever I was supposedly staring at.
"Sorry, what was that?"
"I was just telling you about how I started on the coffee, when all of a sudden you just looked alarmed. I saw pain and disbelief in your eyes. Why is that?"
"Oh.. I just thought I saw somebody I used to know," I mumbled, looking down into my cup of coffee.
I could feel his gaze on me, debating on letting it go or not. Thankfully he let it go, but I could tell something was bothering him. I didn't know what, but I just hope it didn't have to do with who I thought I just saw. I grab my bag and stand up.
"We should head to the drama class. i wanted to talk to the teacher about some stuff."
"Okay, yeah. Sure."
We walked in silence. Me, trying to ignore the feeling of someone watching me. Gale, trying to figure out what just happened. I didn't know what I was going to do about Gale. Or Gabriel. I especially knew that I didn't WANT to know what I would do if SHE ended up at the same school I was.
We get to the class doors at the same time a big group of people get there. We let them go in first, and we followed not far behind. I started turning towards Gale to apologize for my weird behavior, when I saw it again. The blonde hair and red highlights. It belonged to a girl that had walked in with the group in front of us. She sat up front of the big auditorium classroom, trying to fit in with the group of people but seemed to be working... unsuccessfully.
I seemed frozen, not comprehending the fact that Gale was asking me what was wrong, and trying to pull me out of my daze again. I just couldn't stop staring at the girl in the front, the same girl that had ruined my life my junior year. The same girl who used to be my best friend. I watched as she sat back in her seat and started gazing around the room. When her eyes landed on me, they widened in surprise, then narrowed in cockiness. She "humphed" and turned away from me, flipping her hair like she had no care in the world. And really, she didn't really care about anybody but herself. As long as she had some kind of benefit from anything, she was in. Otherwise you could never count on her.
All of a sudden, my eye sight was blocked by a body, and I look up into Gale's green-sea eyes. So full of concern and worry.
"What's wrong? You look scared shitless and I don't know what to do."
I mumbled, and he strained to hear.
"I guess I never told you, but my junior year was ruined by a girl I used to be best friends with. She was an evil bitch and she knew it. She ruined everything I have ever had, and took all my friends from me. She did it all because I pissed her off. One stupid mistake, and my life was ruined. I wanted to come to this school, not only for soccer but for a fresh start. Well, now that will never happen because..."
"Because why?" he asked, full understanding in his eyes.
"Because she's here. Jenny Rankes is here."
