~Cassian~
The pain is still bad half an hour later when we're stationed on a beach in front of our ship. Jyn is sitting next to me, hugging her knee to her chest looking down on me.
I'm propped against a tree because Jyn and the woman that helped bandage the bullet wound insisted I got some rest.
Taking Jyn's hand, I lace my fingers with her and smile up at her. She's biting her lip and fiddling with a knife looking over at the refugees. Most are huddled around several fires Jyn built although she was reluctant to leave me here.
The rescued prisoners glance at us with gratitude eyes occasionally but they leave us be, tending to wounds with supplies Jyn and another helper routed out of our ships storage.
"How are we gonna get them food?" Jyn asks me, scanning the starving looking people. There's no kids but around 150 women and men.
Jyn calls to the women that helped us and smiles with a kindness I haven't seen before.
"What's your name?" She asks as I push myself up.
"It's Amelia Miss," she mumbles. She looks about 35, straggling dirty blonde hair and sharp features from a lack of food. She's thin of course and wears loose beige rags flecked with blood and dirt.
"Amelia could you count the survivors and see if there's any that can use weapons?" Jyn asks putting a hand on her shoulder.
Amelia blinks at Jyn as though she's not used to people treating her with respect.
"Of course Miss." She replies quietly and starts to walk off.
"Amelia!" Jyn calls and she looks back. "Call me Jyn," she says.
"Yes miss, Jyn sorry." Amelia replies and a strange look crosses Jyn's face.
Jyn turns back to me when we see Amelia sorting the refugees into rows and lines.
"I'm gonna go sort what food and weapons we have says Jyn, kneeling down next to me and touching my cheek.
"Okay," I say, ignoring any pain remaining from the bullet wound.
She kisses me briefly and walks off towards our ship, disappearing up the gang plank.
I manage to stand up and stagger over to Amelia. By the time I've reached the refugee group I can walk easily and the pain is subsiding.
"Alright listen up!" I shout to the lined up refugees, the strong, loud Captains voice coming from my throat. "Who of you can use a blaster?"
Amelia gestures at a small group of around 12 men and women raising their hands. I sigh, it's a start.
"Okay my... companions" my word catches on the word companion. Jyn is so much more than that. "Yeah, my companions gonna get food and weapons- we may need to hunt and we may come across more storm troopers." I continue.
I see nods and some fearful expressions flashing up at me throughout the crowd. Then I see her.
Blake.
Her dirty hair is pulled into its normal braid, her green eyes as big and wide as the day I couldn't save her. How did she get captured again.
She catches my eye and smile through scars that a thirteen year old should not have.
"I'll be back." I say in a small voice and set off for the ship.
I reach the gang plank and walk in to find Jyn packing food and water bottles into boxes."Cassian?" She says. "I told you to rest up-"
I cut her off, "it's Blake, the girl you where talking to in medical, she's here." I say.
