(Y/n)'s POV
I stayed where I was. Yuki was looking at me with worry. He was holding Flare. The mid-villain touched my cheek. I held my katana by his throat.
"Leave the human's body."
"Why should I? Even though you are an opast, you are still weaker than me."
"Are you sure about that?"
"Stop asking useless questions and come with me to the demon king. He has asked for your capture but not before I have some fun with you first."
"Tch, in your dreams. Now, leave his body...or are you too scared? Scared that you'll died?" His seductive grin turned into an angered frown.
"Why would I be scared?"
"You're afraid that if you leave the human's body, I'll kill you." He laughed.
"You really think you can kill me? I'll like to see you try."
"Then come out...now!"He went out of the human's body like I told him to. I leapt off the roof and sliced through the mid-villain's chest. I quickly went back down to catch the human before his head hit the ground. My katana disappeared. I went to Yuki and gently took Flare out of his arms.
"Thank you for looking after her."
He nodded and stood up, his arm brushing against mine. I quickly moved out of his way. He went to the two girls and tried to help them. But they were scared of him. There was blood on his face.
They immediately started crying. Toko ran to them and hugged them, telling them that everything was okay. I passed Yuki a handkerchief and teleported back home. I tended to Flare's wound and put her on the bed.
~The next day~
We had to go pick up Yuki from the orphanage. Apparently he had changed his mind and wanted to come with us. He said bye to the girls. I wasn't paying much attention to what they were saying and just played with my cherry blossom.
"(Y/n)?" Yuki asked.
"Yeah?"
"Can I please talk to you in private?"
"Sure." Why did he want to talk to me? We went around the corner.
"I uh saw your past..." he started off. I froze. He shouldn't be talking to me. He should be talking to them and staying by Luka's side.
"And?..." He didn't answer. He was crying.
"Yuki, don't cry."
"I'm sorry."
"Sorry?"
"Yeah, sorry. I'm sorry I ignored you. I'm sorry they bullied you. I'm sorry that you had to put up with us. I'm sorry..." Now I was the one crying. He apologised to me?
"Yuki..." I quickly wiped my tears away.
"I...should get going."
"Aren't you coming with us?" he asked, a little worried.
"Yuki, don't worry about me. Don't even think about me. I'll be fine."
"But-"
"I have Flare. And besides, they need you more than me. I'm just someone that helps when I really need to. Now hurry, they'll be waiting for you." He nodded and left. *sigh* I headed back home.Yuki's POV
~Some time later~
I woke up to find that Luka had fallen asleep on my shoulder. But what was that strange dream? It felt real though. Then the image of (Y/n) getting hurt popped into my mind.
"Ne Yuki, is something wrong? You look sad," Toko exclaimed.
"N-no, I just had a weird dream."We talked a bit more. The thing about us meeting in our previous lives confused me. What happened during that time?...
"Yuki and Luka will be dropped off at the police department." Huh? The police?
"Then I guess you'll meet Hotsuma and Shusei first," Toko said.
"Who are they?"
"They're also Zweilt Guardians, like us."I looked out the window. Why was (Y/n) still on our side? The way we treated her...I felt so stupid. She was a 'human being'. Why didn't I realise that she had feelings too?
"Yuki, why are you crying?" Luka asked. I touched my cheek. I really was crying. He wiped my tears away.
"Yuki, did something happen?" Toko asked, concerned.
"No, nothing at all."
"Come on, Yuki. You're hiding something, what is it?" Everyone was looking at me.
"I-it's about (Y/n)..."
"Yuki, why are you even thinking about her?! She's evil!" Toko argued.
"But she helped-"
"No one cares," Tsukumo replied.
"Does no one care about how she would feel?..."
"Yuki, she's an opast. They don't have feelings, Luka's an exception."
"Did she do something to deserve all that hatred?"
"She came to the Twilight Mansion one morning. It was when she was still little. She didn't tell us anything, except her name and what she was. Takashiro only accepted her for her powers but we still couldn't bring ourselves to like an opast."
"Oh..." She must be strong, to be able to endure it for that long...
"We've arrived."(Y/n)'s PIV
I was walking around while Flare sat on my shoulder in her fox form. I heard that Yuki was gonna go to the police department. Maybe I should- No, I shouldn't. They'd bully us again. Hotsuma walked past me. He looked upset. I know I shouldn't but I couldn't stand someone looking so sad.
"Hey Hotsuma-"
"What do you want?!" he asked with a tone that said 'don't talk to me'.
"D-did something happen? You look upset-"
"I'm only upset because I have to go near you! You're just a filthy beast that doesn't deserve to live. Go rot in hell." He walked away as quickly as he could. I wish I could...I sometimes really wish I could.
"(Y/n), are you alright?" I turned around, surprised to find Yuki and Luka.
"Yeah, nothing to worry about." I was about to go somewhere else but he stopped me with questions.
"Why do they treat you like that?" he asked with concern.
"Yuki, don't worry about me. Worry about yourself. Pretend I don't exist...please. It'll help you. I'm just a burden to everyone."
"(Y/n)..." I smiled before teleporting away.
