Chapter 11 - Beautiful

I woke up curled into the side of Carl. He was warm and I was freezing cold. I scooted closer to him, accidently waking him up. He opened his eyes and I frowned. "Sorry baby, I didn't mean to wake you, it's just I'm freezing." I whispered to him and he pulled the covers up more and threw an arm around me. At this moment, I felt safe, like nothing could hurt me. I closed my eyes as I fell back asleep.

I woke up and Carl was right there beside me. His head propped up on his elbow and his lips curled into a smile as my eyes opened. "Daryl's back." he said as I copied they he was laying. "Really?" he shook his head. "Everything is gonna be alright." I sighed as he said this.

Carl started to get up from the bed but I grabbed his shirt to stop him. "Just wait a few more minutes. Please?" I asked him desperate to spend time with him. He nodded his head and laid back down. The last time we had a romantic moment had been weeks. I was starting to think that maybe we were growing apart.

"You know, its been awhile since you kissed me." I told him as I fiddled with the collar of his shirt. We were laying in bed facing each other. He didn't say anything so I went on. "I don't want us to grow apart." I told him and he finally spoke. "No, were not. I'm sorry I haven't kissed you lately, I've just been...frustrated." he finished.

"I understand." I got quiet. He lifted my chin up to face him and he looked deep into my eyes. "I love you more than anything." he whispered as he slowly connected his lips to mine. He pulled away and his eyes were watery.

"Every breath you take. Every step you make. Every single day, and every word you say. I treasure. And losing you would kill me. I'm sorry for every promise I made that I broke. I love you and no one can change that, okay?" I was now the one crying. He confessed his love to me, and I knew he wasn't lying. "I love you too." I told him as we kissed again.

I wrapped my arms around his neck as he laid me my back against the mattress. He leaned over me as he kissed over my face. Kissing my tears away. "Your beautiful." he whispered and I giggled as he kissed down my neck.

I may have lost my foot, but I didn't lose the love of my life.
