Chapter 20

1 week later

"Emma?" I said as she stopped and looked at me.

"Yeah?" "Where have you been?" "What are you talking about?" "You've been gone for a whole week. Where were you?" "Oh you actually care?"

"Of course I do!" "Well it didn't seem like it!" "What are you talking about? Why wouldn't I care?" "Oh don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about! You're always with Maya your new best friend so much that you don't even care about me or anything else but yourself!"

"Emma... That's not true! I care about you more than you think. I saw you that night we were supposed to go staking." "What?" "I saw you at subway. You looked scared. What happened."

"It's a long story." She said sighing as she looked down. "You can tell me." "My brother took me out of the house. We ran away."

"What why?" "My parents wouldn't stop yelling and fighting and they would starve me. So we ran away. We didn't think they even noticed." "I'm so sorry." "It's fine."

"Where were you last week?" "Some house we found. I was alone most of the week while my brother got me food and clothes. But they found us at the lake near the house we were at. It was small and not very clean but I guess it was better than nothing. We got grounded and things were worse. He tried hurting my brother and almost killed him. But I called the cops and he went to jail."

"Omg I'm so sorry Emma." "It's okay. I'm sorry about the way I acted." "It's okay you're going through a rough time. I know how it feels. It's hard." She nodded as she cried. "He was just trying to help me. If they weren't fighting in the place none of it would have happened." I nodded as I ate my sandwich.

God I couldn't believe we had to leave so soon. What would Emma say?

I have to tell her. "Hey Emma?" "Yeah?" She said as she looked up. "Umm I have to tell you something." "Okay what is it?" "I'm leaving for my um dad's band. They're going on tour."

"Oh." She said looking down. "I'm sorry. Are you okay?" She nodded. "I understand. I'll miss you." She said looking down.

"Well I should go to class now I can't be late again." She said sighing as the bell rang. I nodded and sighed and I went to class.

"Got everything ready?" Ashton asked as he came into my room. I nodded as I zipped up my suitcase. "Okay let's go." I nodded as I got my bags and put them in the car.

We had been packing for hours and Ashton was on the phone pretty much all day. He got on to everyone about getting their bags and he talked to his girlfriend for hours. I hope she's nice.

"Finally food!" Calum yelled happily as he ran to Burger King. I rolled my eyes as we were surrounded by a bunch of people with cameras. "Oh shit." Ashton cursed.

"What?" "Michael asked as he was about to go after Calum. "Abby!" Ashton yelled as him and Luke grabbed me and ran away from them. "Oh my god are you okay?" "Yeah I'm fine." "You idiots! You were supposed to help Abby!"

"Oops... Sorry..." They said looking down. Ashton rolled his eyes and sighed we ordered our food.

Calum and Michael wouldn't stop fighting over food as usual so Luke and I went to Star bucks until it was time to go.

(An/omg I want Starbucks soooo badly I haven't had it in forever)

"So where's your girlfriend?" I asked as we sat down on the plane. It was so crowded. I don't think I've ever been on a plane before. Maybe when I was little but I don't remember since then.

"We'll meet her when we land." I nodded as I laid down. "You'll like her. She's really nice. She can't wait to meet you." "Oh cool. I can't wait either." He nodded as laid down and feel asleep.

"Tried?" Luke asked as I set my head down and watched a movie. I nodded and sighed. "It's okay you go to sleep." He said as he let me put my head on his shoulder. I smiled and nodded as I closed my eyes.
