Becoming Peggy

Setting: the secret room below the old SHIELD H. Q.

"So this is my old man's secret lab..." Tony says looking around

"Yup," I say quiet as the places sends shivers down my backside

"Just look at all this out dated technology," he says running his hand over everything

"Can we go now?" I ask

"In a sec," he says looking at the center machine that I was once confined in for 55years

"How's your search for your daughter going?" I ask

"Dead ends at every turn," he says still looking over the build of the machine

"Sorry to hear that," I say

"..."I'm quiet for a moment

"Yep," he says, "just as I thought."

"What?" I ask

"They couldn't get you out before because someone tampered with it," he says standing and turning back towards me, "thought, I'm surprised my old man didn't figure that out."

"Tampered with it?" I ask, "but who would...why would they..."

"Hydra had been growing in SHIELD since the day in was founded Carter," he says with a sigh, "and our parents both made a lot of enemies. Whoever did it either want to sabotage my old man or get at your mom, and when they found you in here...it was a win-win for them."

"..." I quietly shake my head

"And if I had to guess..." he says, "Hydra probably has my old man's blue prints to this thing and built one of their own..."

"I brought you here Stark; I kept my word," I say, "so will you help me and be my Howard Stark?"

"Don't refer to me as that," he says, "and we have a deal."

"Deal," I say a we shake hands, "now can we please leave? This place gives me the creeps."

"Fine," he says reluctantly

"You're such a child," I say, "you can always come back later without me."

"So are you going with a wig or hair dye?" He asks

"Most people already think the blond is a dye job," I say, "so I guess the wig."

"You're gonna need your mom's old suit if your gonna be her," he says

"All her old clothes are at the house I grew up in," I say, "and my evil half siblings won't let me in there a second time...I had to beg and plead just to go in and look around the first time."

"Ya I never liked Thomas myself growing up," he says as we leave, "and Agnes was always stuck to me like glue, it was annoying as hell."

"..." I sigh

"But," he starts, "Luckily, the suit you need was left with me."

Tony and I return to Avengers tower and he goes through closet after closet after closet until he finally finds what he's looking for. He turns to me with a bag on a hanger and shoe box that was sitting on top of a hat box in his hands...

"It might be a bit big on you," he says sizing my body with his eyes

"Married or not," I say could you not be a creep."
