I spend a few days I the park, using up all my money on one meal for each day. After 4 days I decide to move around a bit and start waking to the train station. As I'm crossing the road I suddenly hear a screech of brakes and feel a harsh bump on the side of my leg. I pull out my earphones and turn to see the person getting out of their car looking extremely flustered. They walk over and start apologising frantically.
"I'm so so sorry. Oh my god I can't believe I hit you! Are you hurt? What were you doing crossing the road without looking and with earphones in you idiot!? Do you have a death wish or something?" They say frantically then come around to the front of the car and face me.
"Sorry! I'm so sorry!" I reply. I go to continue speaking but he cuts me off.
"Wait I know you!" The guy says. "You're that kid who was in my shop the other day! Oscar, no, um-"
"Oliver." I remind him. He snaps his fingers in response.
"That's it" he says.
"J- um, Jordan." I reply.
"Yep. Hey what are you doing here? Aren't you meant to be at school? It's a Monday." He questions me.
"It's a long story."
" I have plenty of time. I've got the day off today." He explains.
"Look I really don't wanna talk about it okay?"
"Oh, please?" He begs and sticks his bottom lip out. So immature...
"I ran away from home, okay?" I say, sounding agitated.
"Wow seriously? Where are you staying then?"
"On the streets, if you must know."
Suddenly he grabs my arm and starts pulling me to his car. "Come with me." I try to pull away from him, reminding him that we don't really know each other, and for all he knows I could be a psychopathic murderer, but he won't here it and insists I come with him.
He pulls into the driveway of a small one storey brick house. We get out the car and he unlocks the front door. "Make yourself at home."
