I let the hot water of the shower engulf my slim body as I sighed in content. Although we were only camping for the weekend I knew I was going to miss hot showers in the privacy of my own ensuite. The idea of using public showers made me cringe.
After washing my hair and shaving where necessary I stepped out of the shower, changing into a reasonably nice outfit. I slipped on some blue jeans with rips at the knees and a cropped hoodie. I applied a light layer of makeup, smiling at my appearance before putting on some black Vans. It was fairly early but the drive was at least two hours, those two hours were going to be spent sleeping.
I grabbed my suitcase, bringing it downstairs along with my phone. I sighed quietly, knowing I was going to miss my phone most of all, I replied on it heavily even though I probably didn't need to. I was greeted by a tired Jai as I walked into the living-room, clearly disappointed in his own choice of time to leave. "Someone looks happy," I laughed. I was in a good mood this morning, it was probably because I knew I was about to have an amazing weekend with these boys.
"It's 7am Kylie." He stated, shaking his head as he lazily rubbed his eyes. "I'm usually asleep right now." Although I enjoyed sleeping in until later whenever I had the chance, I didn't mind getting up early. Because of my job I usually had to wake up fairly early, mainly due to travelling so I was used to it now.
"You're spending the whole weekend with me, if I were you I'd be looking a lot happier." I grinned, winking at him playfully before placing my suitcase next to the sofa. I headed into the kitchen to make myself a smoothie. As I walked in I saw Luke leaning against the counter, scrolling through his phone as usual. I swear he was glued to that thing.
I was tempted to speak to him - attempt to start a conversation maybe - but I knew he'd just shoot me down straight away. Instead I went and made myself a smoothie, staying awkwardly quiet as I did so. I couldn't help but let my mind drift off to the other night, butterflies erupting in my stomach as I thought about it. It was oddly comforting sleeping with Luke, something about him made me feel safe and at peace which was ironic considering how much he stressed me out.
I took a deep breath before turning around, biting down on my lower lip gently. "Are you excited?" I murmured quietly, quickly looking at him before looking away again. "I mean we're sharing a tent, that speaks for itself." He said, shrugging as he continued to look at his phone. "We're what? Why are we sharing a tent?" I squeaked out nervously, holding onto my smoothie.
"Beau chose, he thought he'd be funny. Jai isn't too pleased about it though." He shrugged before walking out, stopping me from questioning the situation any further. Surely I wasn't spending two whole nights stuck in a tent with Luke? I groaned before drinking my smoothie.
After what felt like forever we packed our luggage into the car and began driving to the campsite. Me and Luke were sat in the back, Jai helping Beau with the directions up front. I listened as the two bickered back and forth about which way to go. "How much longer?" I groaned, looking out of the window as Luke quietly snored next to me.
"About 10 minutes, we're not far now." Jai beamed as if he were a parent, clearly still proud of his idea. After what felt like forever we arrived, all of us lazily stepping out of the Jeep. "Kylie and Luke, you can set up your tent and we'll set up ours." Beau grinned, only causing Jai to frown.
"Why are they sharing a tent? They despise each other." Jai said, rolling his eyes as he looked at Luke before returning his gaze back to Beau. "It'll be funny." He shrugged before getting some tents out of the boot of the Jeep. "Let's get set up then."
