Janessa:
My phone starts ringing. I pick it up and press the green button.
"Hello," I stretch the "o". I check the caller ID. Unknown. I shrug.
"Good evening, is this Janessa Ryder?" the voice on the other line says. It's a deep masculine voice. He's got to be in his mid forties. Maybe. I don't know.
"Yes, why?" I respond. The girls crowd around to try and hear, so I put him on speaker and lay my phone on the floor.
"I'm am Jackson Kyles, Vice President of Contempo Dance Company. I've called to ask you if you and your friends, Alex Bennett, Macy Riera, and Lucy Colemen, would like to dance in a brand new music video featuring Blake Edlestons? You guys would get to choreograph the choreography, then teach it to a crew, and dance with them. What do you say?"
I look at the girls.
"Hold on for a sec. I actually have the girls with me," I say. I press the mute button so the girls and I can talk.
"Gross! Blake Edlestons. He's pretty much the slightly younger Justin Bieber," Lucy comments.
"Yeah, but we would get to choreograph the dance that goes with the song and dance in the music video," Alex points out.
"True," Macy says.
"Guys, when Mason came into the dance studio where I work at, the owner introduced him as a scout from Contempo Dance Company. So, Mason has to work there," I say.
"Oh, could this be something else that the guys are dragging us into?" Macy asks.
"I don't think we should do this," Lucy says.
"Why don't we try it? It could work out. Maybe Mason working there is just a coincidence," Alex says. "I mean as far as we know, none of the other guys work there. If it doesn't work out we'll just quit."
Wow, I've never seen Alex so out going. Maybe it's cause Tyrece is here. She always seems more outgoing when Tyrece comes to visit.
"So, I guess we are doing it then?" I ask.
"I guess so," Lucy replies. Alex nods her head and Macy shrugs showing she doesn't really care.
"Okay, then," I repress the mute button to unmute it. "Hey Mr. Kyles, we've come to a decision that we will do it."
"Great. The first rehearsal is tomorrow at one in the after noon at Maxton Video Studios. See you there," Jackson Kyles hangs up.
"Man, we should have asked if we were going to get paid," Macy pouts.
"We better be," Lucy says, getting up. "I need to head back to my room. Goodnight." Lucy leaves the room.
"Well, I guess I should go to. Night," Alex says, standing up and leaving.
"Good night," Macy and I say as she's leaving.
"Well, I'm tired," Macy says as she walks over to the bathroom. "I'm gonna shower and change."
I nod and sit on my bed. I pull out a book and start reading.
Lucy:
I wake up. It's Saturday. I've got a class in the morning and the rest of the day I'm free. I see Sienna still sleeping. I shrug, get up, grab my clothes, and head to the bathroom. After getting ready, I check my phone. Xavier's supposed to call me in the morning, though I don't know when. No phone call. I grab my school bag and head to class.
An hour later, I walk out of Professor James's class. I check my phone. No missed calls. Sigh, and head to the Sugar Bean Café and order a strawberry smoothie. I check the time. 11:00 am. I take a seat and drink my smoothie as I begin my paper for Music History class on my laptop. When it's 11:30, I head back and start to get ready for the music video thingy.
