I decided against causing a scene for once in my life and promptly left the diner. I can get lunch tomorrow.

We're not even dating.

She can eat lunch with whoever she wants.

I don't care.

She's just a girl.

I rounded the street corner to where my car was parked and stopped.

My blood ran cold.

Connor.

Elena's fucking dead older brother.

Leaning against my car.

"Hi, Harry." The dead man said.

And he smiled that smile using the mouth that was covered in blood last I saw.

"Let's take a little ride." He gestured towards my vehicle.

"Nice car, is it new?"

---Flashback---

Connor was starting to grow on me. When Liam first invited him to hang out with us, I was skeptical. He was a cardigan-wearing, business-talking, brown hair and blue eyed typical American dream kid. Always got me into trouble.

But he was loosening up.

It was mostly due to our influence of partying, but partly due to his infatuation with Jesy, one of Allison's friends.

She loved the fact that he was cool enough to study abroad.

"Liam, what's the date?" I asked as we drove to pick Connor up.

"September 23rd." He answered immediately. I breathed a sigh of relief.

"I thought I missed our anniversary. Allison would've kicked my ass."

"Do you still have nothing planned? Mate, it's tomorrow."

I shrugged. "She likes spontaneous things better."

"Who does?" Said a deep Midwestern voice entering the car. He was in a "Paws" shirt, dark denim, and of course, a cardigan.

"Allison," I said.

"Oh yeah, isn't your anniversary coming up? Jes says Allison can't stop talking about it."

I sighed deeply. Why is she so excited?

Liam chuckled. "You're screwed, man."

Connor joined in. "You don't have anything planned? Oh man, bro."

"Shut up," I grunted.

The party was in full swing, and the four of us were plastered. But Ed was the worst, on account of him arriving first. He could barely walk. I was in the middle of dancing with Allison when it happened.

At first it was a loud crash no one pays attention to, things always break. But then I heard Jesy scream

"Connor, stop!" Liam and I both looked at each other while Ed passed out.

He was just beside me. Like half an hour ago. Allison yelled, "Jes?!"

"Where is he?" I boomed.

"I don't know!" Liam and I started pushing past people, throwing drunkards out of the way.

Liam and I were in the middle when Allison called me from the bathroom. We both ran in that direction and burst into the door.

Jesy was sitting on the toilet covered in tears. Her cheek was red.
