The cold bitter air sent shivers down their spines. There breath clouded in the air as they walked silently towards the library. Alex kept making sideways glances at her. There footsteps echoed around them. Soon they reached the library. Alex pulled open the door and they awkwardly stepped inside. Warmth filled the air. A young girl sat coloring at the desk. She looked up at them as they passed. Rissa stopped looking at the girl. She looked tired. They continued walking, Alex taking out his list. He read it out loud. "Locate the book Rise and Fall" He murmured. They started searching. Slowly they made their way up the isles. Suddenly they saw it. They both reached out. Their hands touched reaching for the same book. Their eyes met. Rissa pulled her hand away, a light blush filled her cheeks. Alex looked away as he pulled the book out. He walked over to the counter and checked it out. After stuffing it into his small backpack, he checked the list again. "Stay the night at Rissa's house." He read. Rissa yelled, "what!?" "I'm just reading what it says!" She sighed and took the lead. Alex followed her home. When they reached her house, She pulled out her key, unlocked the door, and pushed it open. They both walked in. Alex looked around as Rissa went to the kitchen to make hot coco. "Your home is a wreck...you could have at least cleaned the bathroom." He called out. "Had I known I would have a guest at three O'clock int he morning, I'm sure I would have." She called back. She walked into the living room with Alex following and handed him a cup. Warmth seeped into their skins as they drank. "So in this mission I'm the brains and your the... Helper. Just to make sure we are on the same page-" "Page? We're not even in the same library!
Why should you be the brains? I've always been the brains even back then!" she argued. Alex thought, we have always argued. Even when we first met.
