Final Job

Chapter 10: Young

"Adaline!" Rissa yelled as she ran up the flowery hillside. "Mommy said to go back inside!" The little girl's sister emerged from the tall grass with two vibrant flower crowns in her hands. "Okay one sec."  Adaline said kneeling down to Rissa's height. He gently placed one of the flower crowns on her head. Rissa took the other one and messily placed on the top of her sister's head. They both laughed as they made their way down the hill. They walked into their small home to find their mother busy cooking. "You two, go have fun. I don't care what you do just don't get separated. And be back for dinner!" "Got it mum." Adaline said taking Rissa's hand. They headed back up the hill and disappeared into the flowers and grass. On the other side of town a cloaked figure pulled out a lighter. Taking careful aim, he threw it at one of the wooden houses. It caught fire instantly. He rushed out of hiding while no one was looking and ran with the smoke towards the hills. Villagers frantically gathered water but unsuccessfully put the fire out. The fire was spreading quickly. Soon the whole town was enveloped in flames. Rissa looked across the horizon to find it more colorful than usually. She walked towards the town. Her eyes looked across the flaming valley. Houses crumbling, villagers fleeing, children crying. She ran back over to her sister and tugged at her dress. "Yes Riss?" Rissa pointed towards the valley. She tensed up wandering over to the edge and looking down. She grabbed Rissa's hand and together they ran into the flames and back home. Fire raged all around, the houses weight suddenly shifted and he whole structure fell down. Rissa screamed. The cloaked man grabbed Rissa's wrist and tugged her away from the sister. Rissa kept screaming and kicking. Adaline ran trying to catch up to the man, but he was already to far. Adaline's face became mixed with the flames swallowing the village. Rissa stopped screaming and became still.
