I was sitting at an open desk in science, rapping two of my unsharpened pencils against the hard surface. I missed my drumset already and had last played it, like, three days ago.

The guy in front of me started to turn around all of a sudden. "Hey dude, could you sto-" He started asking me in regards to my pencil tapping.

We locked eyes for a solid five seconds before sharing a smile.

"It's been awhile, Jack!" Ken laughed heartily.

"No kidding! Three months!" I replied with a laugh of my own.

Standing up, we hugged over my desk awkwardly. Once we parted, I stuck my pencils in my back pocket and looked around cautiously. The teacher wasn't around (that we knew of) so I PARKOUR jumped the desk and quickly took a seat next to Ken.

He chuckled at me. "So how're you doin' man?" He asked, grinning widely.

"I'm good, thanks! Jet-lagged, but glad to be back here!" I told him. He had no idea how much I'd missed him. How much I'd missed everyone here.

"Yeah, same here, though my jet-lag is definitely not as bad as yours! Mine's only a two hours difference, yours is like, what? Five hours? No, that's the Ireland-Mississippi difference." Ken attempted. Having students from all over was freaking confusing, especially when it came to time differences!

"No, the Ireland-California time difference is like nine hours." I reminded him. "Same with the rest of the UK. So unless they've gotten more time to adjust, all the British students will be exhausted too. Anywho, how was your summer? You and Mary able to see each other?"

"Yeah, actually. She came with me to Mississippi for the first month of summer vacation, then I went to her place in Australia for all of July. For August, though, she stayed in Aussie while I went back to Miss." He shook his head with a smile, obviously thinking of Mary. "Hectic, but worth it for her...you know what I mean, though. Wiishu lives in Denmark, right?"

I smiled at the thought of her. "Yeah, she does! I spent about half the summer there with her, but had to go back home to Ireland for work so I could afford my ticket here." I sighed. "What's worse is I haven't seen her since then!" Ken laughed at my sudden excitement. "Oh c'mon man-you know exactly what it is I'm talking about! I miss her! Sure, we're meeting up after school today, but that doesn't make me miss her any less!"

There was an exaggerated gag from behind us. Turning we saw "stone-faced" Tyler walking our way looking not so "stone-faced" as he smirked at us.

"You and Wiishu are freaking adorable and it disgusts me!" He joked, sitting in the desk next to me.

"So you're still one to talk? Find yerself a girlfriend already, man!" I kidded.

"I'm not really interested-" Tyler began.

"So a boyfriend then?" Ken stated as if obvious.

"-in a relationship." Tyler finished. "And anyways, I got to pick on Mark and Amy almost the entire summer, so I don't think I should be one to talk."

     " 'Almost'?" I inquired.

"Yeah, Amy went home to Boston a couple times...wait a sec-Ken. You never said if you'd seen Mary yet today. Have you?" Tyler questioned.

"Wow, you sure eavesdropped far into that conversation..." Ken muttered to himself. "But yeah, I saw her this morning-when she, Felix, Cry and I rode the city bus together and-Emma what are you doing?"
