17: Issues

As soon as Selena got to the Condo, she quickly ran inside Nate's room and trapped herself by locking the doors.

"Aren't you going to bed?", Max came out his room and found Nate laying on the couch.

"She has locked herself in there. Apparently I am a distraction  to when it comes to her writing the article"

"I thought she was done with that?", Max raised his eyebrows.

"Minor editing, nothing big", Nate tried to cover up. He knew Selena was in that room trying to erase the secrets.

"Alright! Well I am off to bed. I have a meeting tomorrow. I need you to take Selena and check some of these places out", He handed Nate a folder.

"What is this?"

"This is the list to all the top reception halls around New York. You both need to go check each one out and try to decide on which one you both would prefer to get married at", Max smiled and walked towards his room.

"Won't you join us? I think Selena will like it if you are with us", Nate suggested.

"It's best me and her try to avoid crossing each other's path for a brief period of time. As your best man, I have taken the responsibility to organise this wedding but I need to avoid her for now"

"As you wish. Just saying, I don't think the feud would die if you both avoid each other"

"Three months and it's over", Max shut his door and went inside his room.

He plopped on his bed and looked up at the ceiling. Images of Selena passed his mind and he tried to shake it off. He remembered the first time he saw her photo when they were initially approached for the interview, he remembered how mesmerized he was by her beauty until Nate spoke his mind and put the dibs on her first. That's when he started to intensively research on her and tried to pull out as much information about her as he could.

What impressed him the most was that she was self made. She had no helping hand to get her where she stood. He loved the fact she had no one telling her what she could and couldn't do. She had no past and her future seemed blurred which helped him decide she was the perfect one for Nate.

Selena stared at her laptop having a writers block moment. She wasn't sure what she was doing. The USB in her hand contained every secret and details of her encounter with the brothers. It also included sensitive information about the contract made between them which could expose their career. Her hands were shaking as she put her fingers at work on the keyboard. A decision had to be made today. 

Next day at breakfast

"Morning baby", Nate kissed Selena's forehead and shut the laptop close. Selena had passed out with tears in her eyes last night. 

"Morning, I am sorry you had to sleep outside, I unlocked the door but saw you were sound asleep, so didn't want to wake you up", She apologised and planted a kiss on Nate's lips.

He kissed her back softly before telling her about the plans for the day.

"So he doesn't want to talk to me or see me? I haven't even done the worse yet and it's already at this stage?", She looked down at her palms and another tear rolled down her eye.

"Don't stress. I will handle him. Go get ready, we need to go check the halls out"

Once Selena was ready, she slowly sneaked out the room and scanned the area for Max. He was sitting at the kitchen bench drinking his coffee. She slowly walked to the kitchen and poured herself a cup as well.
