21: Cold Heart

After the wedding ceremony, Nate and Selena headed to the condo. There in the middle of the room sat a red box with a note left behind.

Selena quickly rushed to the box . Before opening it she read the note.

'I wasn't sure what classified as a perfect wedding present but here is my best try, Fall in Love and Have fun

Max' 

Selena opened the box and found 2 plane tickets to Paris.

"Nate! Look what Max got us!", She called over Nate excitedly. She remembered how she told Max she always wanted to go Paris and fall in love. 
"I guess we need to pack for our honeymoon baby", He grabbed her and planted a soft kiss on her lips. Selena felt strange, the kiss felt strange. What was happening to her?

Paris, 2 weeks later

Nate studied Selena as she sat near the window ledge sipping her tea. Few weeks had passed and he had tried his hardest to share romantic moments with Selena, but he found her mind was elsewhere.

Tonight though, he had plans in place. He arranged a romantic dinner on the Eiffel tower followed by a movie in the park.

"Hey Sel, I bought you something", He handed over a blue box to Selena and she opened it without giving it a thought.
"Wow! What is this for?", She pulled out a navy blue dress and held it out in front of her.
"I wanted to take you out on a date, like an official date. I realised like normal couples, we haven't had one of those".

Selena shifted in her seat, unsure about the idea of a date, "You don't need to do that. We are married now. We kinda surpassed the whole dating, boyfriend- girlfriend thing", Selena reminded him.

"I just thought we can go back to basics. Sometimes I feel like even though we both are in the same room, it feels like I am alone", Nate went towards Selena and sat next to her.

"Sorry about that. I just have a lot going on in my mind. This is all too overwhelming", She apologised and looked at the dress again.

She thought about making things work out with Nate, she tried to think back the first time she met him and the feelings it gave her. 

"Okay fine, lets go on this date", She smiled and Nate hugged her excitedly.

6pm

"I think I am running out of words to describe how beautiful you look Sel", Nate kissed her forehead and she smiled shyly.

"Thank you, I like the choice of the dress. It's very lovely"

"It's not the dress but the person wearing it that makes it lovely", He gave a cokey smile at this own comment.

"Oh please! stop it now", Selena joked.

They were both having a peaceful time during dinner. Nate tried his best to make it as romantic as possible but by the end he started to make out that Selena needed space. He wasn't sure how to ask her if everything was fine. Since their wedding night, she had been acting strange and even though Nate was being supportive, he was loosing his mind trying to figure out what was bothering her.

As they walked to the park, Selena looked up at the sky and wished she could make Nate feel happy. Every time she was left alone, Max's face will pop up in her head and the guilt would wipe it. It's been 3 weeks since the wedding and Max hadn't even called to check up on her. 

"Sel, stop!", Nate pulled on Selena's hand. He reached for her hips and grabbed her slowly, pulling her closer.

"Sorry, I drifted again", She apologized looking into Nate's eyes.
