Vivenne's POV

"The whole place looks so- exotic!"

I had booked a 5-star hotel for us.

It did not disappoint.

Granted, a tad bit far, but we can pay for transport.

There wasn't any direct flights from Egypt to Peru, so I decided we could take a risk and get our own private jet.

Besides, if that scary - possessing thing happens again, I don't want anyone else to be affected.

But all that was tomorrow afternoon. Our private jet came from an American company, so it needs time to fly over here for our disposal.

I figured we had time to enjoy ourselves a bit, so I got me and Becca some swimsuits.

Originally, they were one pieces, but Becca said we are at an age where we have to be "out there" (so not that age)

So then we settled on bikini's, cause she just wouldn't have it.

When we went downstairs, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Hot Egyptian dudes (also totally not our age) , drinks, pools, music...

...and this hot dude that was looking straight at me.

I ignored it and dragged Becca to go to the bar. A guard told us to put our names on slips of paper and drop them in a box before entering. I was a tad bit surprised when he didn't ask for IDs.

We were sitting down at a small round table inside. The lights were dim, setting the mood. I heard the pool's splashes, a singer on stage and the sounds of people laughing and having fun. Becca went to get herself a drink and some mango juice for me.

The singer finished her song, and the audience gave rounds of applause. Becca came back with a mango milkshake and her cappuccino. Then the host of the night went on stage to speak.

"Thank you, Kendra! A beautifully picked song for your vocal range! Now who's our next lucky performer....?" He put his hand in the box to take out a piece of paper.

"And it's..! Rrreebecca! Do we have a Rebecca Polegato here?"

Becca nearly choked on her drink.

"That's- that's me! What...."

"Rebecca Polegato? Do we have a Rebecca Polegato?"

The audience looked around and grew impatient. Some started complaining. A spotlight shone on Becca.

"Aha! The Rebecca Polegato! Come over here and perform!" The audience around us started groaning and pushing her to the stage.

Her drink had been left on the table, next to her satchel of a bag. The guy that I had claimed to be hot slid in her seat.

"Hello."

"Uh my friend that just got called on stage sits there. Sorry."

"She won't be back for like...3 minutes."

"What the heck do you want?"

"A guy can't talk to a hot girl?"

Hot girl? That can't be right.

"What. Do you. Want."

"Your number."

"No."

"And your body. Well, both yours and your friends'."

What happened after that was a blur. The lights may have powered off at one point. And I felt very numb at the second point.

But what I do know is that when I did open my eyes and scanned my surroundings, I was nowhere near where I previously was.

A room with just a spotlight above my head, no surrounding visuals. Just black, black , and black. I swear I'm not racist. I looked down to see my hands tied.

Then, a voice, distorted. There was no way that voice was human. It nearly sounded like a robot's voice.

"My master will arrive shortly."

"Who are you and what the hell is going on."

"You are currently our hostage. You could call yourself a prisoner too, if that helps."

"Where's Becca?"

"Rebecca Polegato? The Italian? She's in our possession, too. But I think my master will find that she's not much use to us, so he'll dispose of her."

"And I'm useful to you? How's that?"

"Vivienne. You very well know why you're useful to us. You probably already know that you're journeying to Peru's most ancient land there is, because you were a suitable candidate to revive the Gifted population. You know their skeletons are still there, intact, for some reason. You know that if you break the curse you can save them."

"Them? Curse? I didn't know about this. All I knew was that I had to go there and retrieve some hidden scrolls and restore human's belief in the gifted."

"Then Tekapakeli did a terrible job informing you. Let me tell you what you're supposed to know."

Tekapakeli was not a name I heard before. Maybe it was that pale man in my dreams. Or was it really my dreams?

Just then the door burst open, revealing a Becca with a long streak of blood running down her nose. A new wound freshly cut starting from the top of her cheekbone to the right side of her chin.

Then, a gunshot.

The man that was about to explain everything fell lifeless to the floor with a thud.

It took me a moment to register the scene before me.

I snapped out of it to Becca shaking my shoulders.

"We have to go. Now. These dudes are kidnappers viv! Like, my dude was telling me that they were gonna kill me and then kill you. Like, some sort of obstacle."

"D-did you just kill that guy?"

"Sadly no, it was a tranquilizer gun. That's why we have to leave NOW. Did you get hurt?"

"No, but my hands are still tied."

"Well let's change that."
