"seriously? the market?"

"don't look at me, niall, i'm just as confused as you are."

and that he was. out of all the places clementine could have gone- the police, perhaps- she chose the market a couple of blocks away. she smiled brightly as she studied all the stalls, running her fingers over materials and gawking at expensive bracelets. but, she bought nothing, just like harry suspected. he wouldn't leave any money behind.

"are you going to go over there, or not? i'll be waiting here."

harry glanced at niall's raised eyebrow as the boy sat himself down on the bench, expecting that harry would go over to try and talk some sense into clementine.

"i won't be long, i promise. besides, i really thought about what you said yesterday. she's probably fine with him. i just have a couple of questions, is all."

what harry said was half the truth. he did think about what niall told him, about his obsession, but he didn't believe she was truly fine with him. niall seemed pleased with his answer, though, and encouraged him over towards clementine.

she sensed his presence before he had spoken and stared at him with a mixture of surprise and shock.

"harry? how did you find me?"

"that doesn't matter."

she continued to stare at him, perhaps even looking a little pleased, for just a moment, before fear clouded her eyes.

"you shouldn't be here. no no no, you shouldn't, you shouldn't. i'm so sorry, but you can't..."

clementine started to freak out and tried to melt herself into the crowd, away from harry, but he grabbed her arm to stop her from leaving.

"clementine, please. i only have a couple of questions, please just answer them. i just want you to answer them."

she looked up at the desperation in his eyes as he pleaded to her. a couple of questions wouldn't hurt, would it? she just didn't want him to get hurt. he wasn't safe when he was with her.

"if you have questions, ask them."

he sighed, letting go of her arm, knowing she wouldn't run away.

"who's jessica?"

clementine didn't expect this, but answered it with ease.

"somebody i know."

"why did you need to call her?"

"because i needed her help."

then clementine disappeared into the crowd and harry didn't try to stop her; instead he was left standing there knowing just as much as he did before he had arrived.
