Jane tried to scream, cry for help or anything, but she was still drained. The giant dog leaped forward, and shadows blended and warped. The helpless child felt wind whip around them, and blurry images whipping past them. As suddenly as it had began, it stopped. The thing let go of Jane, and she crumpled to the ground.

A cheer went up around her, and she lifted her head groggily. Kids dressed in orange tee shirts rushed forward to help her up. Some shouted, "Get an Apollo kid!" or, "She's a kid of Hades?"

Trying not to feint, Jane became overwhelmed. The orange-shirts made her stand, and some even tried to feed her a weird lemon-bar type thing. She refused it, and tried to break from the group. They held her tight, and she reluctantly let them drag her across an open field. The dog that had kidnapped her sat beside a man. He smiled and waved at her before mounting the animal. Before he left, someone shouted, "Thanks, Mr. diAngelo!" and the beast was gone.

She was dropped beside a large, Greek type building. Several tables of all sizes were lined across the marble flooring, some across a large crack in the stone. She shuttered, taring her eyes away from the hole. Her jaw nearly dropped, (no wait, it did drop) when she saw a white stallion galloping towards her. Instead of having a regular horses head, an aging man from the torso up stopped in front of her. He extended his hand to her.

"Are you alright, Jane?" He asked her, helping her up. He handed her a lemon bar, nodding encouragingly. "Go ahead. It will heal you. Now tell me, how did you defeat the hellhound?"

Jane took a bite of the bar, and immediately felt better. "I-I don't know. I just had to protect myself." She let the taste of pancakes and maple syrup linger in her tounge.

The horse man nodded. "And you're only nine, correct?" When Jane nodded, he continued. "Such power for a young age. Jane Willise, you need to stay here. If you leave, more monsters more powerful than a hellhound will come for you."

Feeling her stomach drop, Jane became worried. "What about my mother? She'll be worried."

The man thing nodded, stroking his beard. "We will tell her, don't fret. Ariel, take her to Cabin 13 please. She needs rest."

A red headed girl smiled encouragingly and took her hand. She seemed 14, maybe older, and lead her from the group. "I'll explain more if you want, after you wake up."

Jane mustered a smile. "Thanks."

She noticed some of the kids backed away from her, a small hint of fear in their eyes. Jane felt her shoulders slump, wanting to know why.

"Outta the way!" Ariel exclaimed, waving her hand. "The daughter of Hades is coming through!"
