Change Is a Good Thing

David and Jasmine sat on the rocks looking at the sunset over the jagged hills. The soft wind blew Jasmine's hair ever so slightly to the side, a few strands waving in front of her face. Today was different. Today many different things had happened.

Jasmine was out all day with her friends and didn't come home to her shared apartment till dinner, and David had been fired for absolutely no reason; something about not working enough, even though he's been working EXTRA hours. After they ate their dinner David wanted to spend time with best friend/roommate, so they went on a hike before the sun had set.

"This is great," Jasmine whispered, breaking the nice silence between them. "Yeah it is. I like spending time with you," he stared at her hoping she would look at him back but she just watched the sky turn a pinkish purple.

"Jasmine?" David asked softly. She turned to look at him, locking her green eyes with his greyish- blue eyes. "Do you things could ever change between us one day?"

"How would things change? I mean we have been friends for years now; it's not like we are going to get in a fight or I'm going to move away or anything," she smiled, but it quickly faded when he didn't return the smile. "David?" She asked frowning.

He didn't say anything but broke the now uncomfortable eye contact and looked out at the very few stars that were spread out in the sky. "David,' Jasmine spoke louder. David looked back at her for a second before grabbing the back of her neck and smashing their lips together.

A bit shocked at the sudden movement, Jasmine closed her eyes and kissed back herself, running her fingers through his sandy blonde hair.

A few minutes and a lot of lip movement later, Jasmine and David now cuddled with each other staring at the bright stars in the purplish sky. "I guess things could change," Jasmine suddenly laughed. "Yeah," he laughed too, "but change is a good thing." He smiled before kissing her again.
