10. karma is a bitch

when I woke up Jamie was gone I went to check on toby I found him reading on the bed "good morning kid"-- "hey Em I feel like I don't see you anymore"--"yeah I know but I really don't be busy"--"you're just trying to avoid Jamie by going out with Kyle a lot"-- "what why would you say that"-- "Emily just because you never bothered what boys doesn't mean anything I know you we are really close I know you like Jamie because you get nervous around him you love seeing him and I get along so well and you trust him with Kyle he is your friend you care about him like you care about me I may be only 12 but I spent my whole life with you and I'm smartI just know things guess"-- "there's no way to argue there"-- 'no but can we make breakfast I miss your pancakes" I laughed nodding my head we cooking enjoy our breakfast Just the Two of Us enjoying each other's presence "Toby, I got to do some work then we can hang out okay"--"yeah okay" I'll look through my journal again and decide on a poem I emailed it to Jamie and it for him there's no music I practice my poem while I wait for him to respond when he does he just tells me I need to be ready at lunch time to go see Lydia so she can make the appropriate changes to my outfit I tell Toby and we hang out until then

Next Morning

I'm so nervous about today yesterday Lydia told me that Jamie told her he was presenting me as a sweetheart model so I had to dress the part I will be wearing a lovely polka dot black and gray dress and some nude colored heels also I'm going to recite and original poem we have a relaxing morning we are not leaving until 1 in the afternoon to go to pictures so Kyle and I can get ready Lydia is helping the both of us as well Jamie and Toby but they don't need any assistance Jamie makes breakfast and Kyle arrives just in time he speaks to everyone but he greets me with a kiss on the cheek and I blush profusely we took our time with eating breakfast while Jamie talks about his charity event last year his mom has been hosting them for five years now "is Jack involved" I asked already thinking I knew the answer "he's there considering its his house he might talk up the guess a bit to get them to donate but my mom does everything really" i nodded more nervous than before we talked awhile longer about nothing Kyle suggest we watch a movie to kill time after looking through the DVD's Jamie owns we decided to watch Lucy after almost two hours it ended and it was time to go we arrived at pictures and very few people here since it was Friday and after twelve we found Lydia and she immediately take Kyle leaving Toby and I to follow Jamie to his office sinceToby hasn't seen any pictures I've modeled for and neither have I come to think of it Jamie turns  on his computer and I'm shocked to see my face show up on the screen i look to him for an explanation but he is to focused on the screen within a blink of an eye the screen has changed from one picture of my face to at least thirty full body shots of myself "wow" Toby said surprised "it looks like me but at the same time doesn't"--"want to see the slide show" Jamie asked "yeah" Toby agreed "no it can wait til the charity event its only a few hours"--"well how bout you go find Lydia and Kyle while i show Toby the slides"--"fine" i leave heading in the direction Lydia took Kyle i begin to hear a female voice singing but i couldn't make out the vocals i follow in the direction the voice is coming from i end up in a room to find Lydia Kyle looking at a singing Lydia his eyes are so focused on her you can clearly see the amazement and shock in his eyes and I'm sure held the same her voice was wonderful beautiful "i want you to sing with me you have to please that was incredible "Kyle said toLydia neither of them realizing I'm here that must be his talent Lydia was hesitating to answer so i make my presence known "if we're putting this to a vote i vote yes sing girl that a voice of an angel you got"--"agreed" Kyle said smiling at me "i didn't know you were there" Lydia spoke "well i didn't want to interrupt anyway you are singing with Kyle if you don't agree i won't be a part of Jamieson's charity event" i told her giving her an ultimatum i knew she couldn't refuse "ok ok no need for the threats ill do it now come on and sit so i can fix your hair"--" thank you Lydia you'll do the chorus so just what you were just singing and I'll look at you when you're supposed to sing since we don't have time to rehearse it together" Kyle said has he was leaving Lydia does my hair and make-up finishing sooner than i thought she help me put the dress on I put the heels on and walk to a mirror to see my reflection it never fails to amaze me how different i look with my hair and make-up done professionally Kyle Toby and Jamieson are ready we pile into one of pictures company truck's with Jamie driving Kyle in the passenger seat Lydia and i in the second row while Toby was in the third row after a few minutes we stopped at a convenience store for some small snacks to hold us until we eat at the charity event Kyle and Lydia seemed to off in their on little world while toby and Jamie can be separated then there's me just little old lonely me soon we were in the car again and six came before i knew it

sighing as I entered my father's house memories of the last night I was here came to my mind his voice in my ears and tears wanted to escape then and now to deciding I'm gonna enjoy this evening and not let Jack control my emotions I put a smile on my face and look around at all the decorations "what the hell are you doing here" a deep voice demanded to know from behind me i turned to see Jack I stayed silent "Emily I'm not gonna ask you again"--"she's on of my top models if you have a problem with that then we included my other models will be leaving"--"no that won't be needed your mom spent so much time putting all this together I, however, do want to know what you mean when you say she's one of your top models"--"out of the four models here her pictures as proven more successful"--"her pay"--"is none of your concern" Jamie spat with venom I knew I had money transferred to my bank account from pictures after each shoot I did i was curious s to why Jack wanted to know so i asked "why"--"she speaks well I was gonna allow you to live here as long as you helped out of course"--"but that is what I wanted in the first place why have you changed your mind"--"honestly your my daughter my blood I want to do right by you" I could his words were lies as he spoke them I was hurt but mostly angry "or because Jamie is gonna make me famous and you wanna be a part of my fame  well you should have thought about that when you kicked me out I guess karma really is a bitch you're just a money hungry  sick old man just then words started following through my mind just as they always do when I'm feeling inspired to wrote this time was different though instead of writing I would be reciting
