Buckbeak and Dotty

Sarafina's POV

It was time for our first Care of Magical Creatures class with Hagrid. When he told us to open our books everyone else looked confused. "You have to stroke their spin" I state patting mines spin gently and opened it to the page Hagrid told us to. Hagrid went to get the creatures we were studying today and returned with a small herd of hippogriffs.

"First thing you need to know about Hippogriffs they are very proud creatures and easily offended" Hagrid tells us. "Now who wants to come say hello?" he asks and everyone takes a step back. Except for Harry and I. "Well done you two come here, Harry you can try with Buckbeak and Sarafina with Dotty" Hagrid states. He lead a grey and brown hippogriff away from the others.

"Now step up and take a bow wait to see if they bow back" Hagrid instructs. "Also try not to blink to much they won't trust you otherwise" he states. Harry bowed to the grey one Buckbeak and I boy to the brown one with white specks in her wings Dotty. Buckbeak didn't bow to Harry so Hagrid made him back away, but Dotty bowed to me and I approached her slowly hand out stretched. As I start to pat after letting her place her cheek on my hand, Buckbeak finally bowed to Harry. Hagrid allowed Harry to pat Buckbeak while I examine Dotty more closely.

"Well done Harry and Sarafina" Hagrid says happily while some of the class clapped. "I think they may let you ride them now" he states. My eyes lit up with excitement while Hagrid placed Harry on Buckbeak's back first. Before I used a near by log to climb onto Dotty myself. "Don't pull out any of their feathers, they won't thank you for that" Hagrid tells us and slaps both the hippogriffs hides.

They galloped towards the fence before spreading their wings and took off to the sky. While Harry and I had our arms wrapped around their necks. As we leveled out flying around the castle I spread my arms out.

"Are you crazy?" Harry asks me from where he still cling to Buckbeak's neck.

"Live a little Harry" I reply as he head towards the Black Lake. He finally let go and spread his arms as well. Yelling happily as I laughed "told you so Harry" I state laughing. I look into the water to see the giant squid following us. As Buckbeak and Dotty placed a claw into the water.

I got sprayed with some of the water and laugh again. "This is amazing Dotty thank you for this" I say hugging her neck. She and Buckbeak start heading back towards the paddock where the others were. Hagrid whistle loudly and we went back towards the paddock where we started our flight.

Hagrid helped Harry off Buckbeak while I fell off Dotty giggling. She nudged me with her head and I patted her fondly. "I'm ok Dotty that was amazing thank you for letting me see the world from your view" I tell her. Then stand up dusting myself off as Hagrid asked if the others wanted a go now.

I stayed by Dotty while Hermione and Ron bowed to her with Harry. She bowed back to them and they approached slowly before patting her. While Draco and his three guy friends and Parkinson were patting Buckbeak. "This is easy" Draco drawled as he patted Buckbeak. "Of course I expected it if Weasley and Potter could do it, you aren't dangerous at all are you?" he asks Buckbeak. "You great ugly brute" he says and that did it Buckbeak attacked Draco catching his arm.

Hagrid managed to calm Buckbeak down and picked Draco up. I went and opened the gate for him and said "class dismissed." I looked at the others and they shook their heads gloomily making me sigh. Draco just had to go ruin Hagrid's first lesson of teaching.
