Chapter 13
Ron was on his way back to the Gryffindor common room. He had just had a very long detention with Snape, for failing to create the correct potion, and was tired and hungry, having missed that night's feast. He was stopped at the sound of someone calling his name. Someone he really didn't want to talk to.
'What do you want Malfoy?' Ron asked annoyed. Carrying on walking.
'I need to talk to you.'
'What about?'
'Hermione.'
Ron stopped in his tracks and turned around to face Malfoy. Why would Malfoy want to talk to him about Hermione? About his girlfriend?
'What about her?' Ron snarled.
'You need to promise me that you'll keep her safe.' Draco looked upset.
'Safe from what?' Ron asked curiously.
'I don't have to tell you everything Weasley,' Draco grimaced. 'Just keep her safe, don't let her go wondering around alone. Protect her from harm.'
'What's going to harm her.'
'Nothing in particular.' Draco replied. Although Ron wasn't convinced. He had a feeling Draco was up to something, but Draco would never tell him and he didn't want to stand her for much longer having to talk to him.
'Why do you care?' Ron asked.
'Because I really like her Weasley, and it kills me that she chose you, but there is nothing that I can do about it except make sure that you treat her how she deserves to be treated.'
Ron had never heard Malfoy say anything nice about Hermione. In fact Ron had never heard him say anything nice about anyone, so Ron was very shocked when he heard all this.
'Alright Malfoy I promise. Just make sure you stay away from her.'
'I promise.' Draco knew he couldn't do anything to change the fact that Ron had got Hermione. Ron of all people. He really hated Ron and had done ever since their first year at Hogwarts together. Ron had become best friends with Harry Potter. The famous Harry Potter who everyone loved, and so then everyone loved Ron as well. Especially Hermione. If only Draco hadn't been so mean to Hermione in the beginning, then everything could be different.
'Good.' Ron turned away from Malfoy and carried on towards the common room.
'One more thing,' Draco shouted after Ron.
'What?'
'Do anything to hurt her Weasley, and you'll regret it!'
