Chapter 3
Hermione woke up extra early on that Saturday morning. It was still quite dark as she got out of bed, taking her time to get ready. It was thirty minutes before they had to leave, when Hermione walked down to the Gryffindor common room. Ron was sat in an arm chair by the fire; he turned to Hermione and smiled.
‘Haven’t forgotten have you?’ Ron asked standing up and putting his arm around Hermione’s shoulder.
‘Of course not,’ Hermione smiled and the two of them left the common room together heading to Hogsmeade. It was very cold and had started snowing as Ron and Hermione arrived heading straight towards The Three Broomsticks for a butter beer.
They paid Madame Rosmerta for their drinks and took a table at the back of the room.
‘So how come you never asked me out before?’ Ron asked Hermione. ‘We’ve known each other for almost five years.’
‘I guess I just didn’t know how to tell you, I guess I was just nervous,’ she replied.
‘You don’t have to be nervous around me,’ he smiled.
‘I know that now,’ Hermione said taking a sip of her drink.
They sat and talked for what felt like hours, until from across the room the door opened and they felt a cold breeze before seeing two people walk in. Both very familiar, one with glasses and a scar, the other with hair redder than Ron’s. They were holding hands; they bought butter bears and sat at the other side of the room.
‘What are they doing here together?’ Ron asked looking angry.
‘Didn’t you hear?’ Hermione asked him ‘They’re going out.’
‘Since when?’ Ron looked furious.
‘About the same time we started going out.’
‘Why didn’t he mention anything to us?’ Ron was starting to calm down.
‘I guess we’ve sort of been ignoring him lately,’ Hermione looked sad at the realisation.
‘Maybe we should go and talk to him,’ Ron said standing up.
Hermione and Ron stood up walking across the room and sitting down next to Harry and Ginny. Harry looked shocked at the site of the two of them.
‘Have you decided to talk to me then?’ Harry asked, looking annoyed.
‘I’m so sorry,’ Ron replied, ‘We didn’t realise that we’d been ignoring you.’
‘We shouldn’t have just ditched you like that, it’s always just been the three of us and it always will,’ Hermione was very upset as you spoke.’
‘It’s alright,’ Harry replied ‘I know how you two feel; I just don’t like the fact that it’s always been the two of you and I was always just a third wheel.’
‘You’re not a third wheel,’ Ron said.
‘Don’t be stupid, you’ve both liked each other for almost five years and you only ever seem interested in each other.’
‘I promise it won’t be like that anymore,’ Hermione smiled at Harry ‘it can just be the three of us again, like it used to be.'
‘And what about me?’ Harry, Ron and Hermione had all forgotten that Ginny was there.
‘I guess all four of us could hang out,’ Ron said, playfully punching her.
‘Come on, let’s get out of here.’ Harry said, as the four of them stood up.
They all put on there coats. Harry and Ginny hand in hand, Ron’s arm around Hermione’s shoulder. They spent the afternoon searching the shops, spending ages in Zonko’s joke shop and Honeyduke’s sweet shop.
It was almost dark, when the four of them returned, spending the night talking by the fire in the Gryffindor common room.
