i stare at the edge of my seat, fiddling with the end of my notebook. my chauffeur stops in front of the park, opening my door, feeling the cold wind smack my face. i bring up my jacket close to my cheeks, moving my hands in sign language. i say thank you, he nods, driving away while i make my way to a bench next to the icy bridge. some time alone finally.

sitting down on the public bench, i begin drawing the dead trees with snow piled on them. gazing from afar, i see children ice skating, oh how i wish i could hear their laughter. back and forth i looked up and down, piece by piece i drew everything around me. my comfort zone being leveled by the beauty in the world, minus the killing and politics. while i drew, i look up to see a man jogging.

in this weather? man, he's asking to get the flu. i lightly laugh, until i see his face up closer, stopping my laughter. his body built to perfection, his carved jawline with subtle stubble, and a smile that takes my breath away. he has earbuds in, before he can see me staring, i go back to drawing.

feeling suddenly nervous, and also slightly disappointed. how can a girl like me who can't even hear, be with a guy like that? sighing, i turned to another page in my notebook, the stranger stops jogging in front of me. my eyes to the ground, seeing his sneakers in front of my toes. slowly looking up, i can see his lips moving, hell, i can see his muscles moving as well.

good lord, who could make such a man? i smile and nod at him, reading his lips.

"it's nice meeting you as well."

he smiles again politely, asking to use my notebook and pencil. i nod, handing them to him a little to eagerly. i can see he chuckles at my clumsy actions, but decides to write something in my pages. before i can say anything else, he jogs away from me. i read what he wrote, of course his phone number.

"call me." - shawn mendes

i'll be sure to call you, shawn. smiling to myself, i text my chauffeur, he arrives shortly after my text. as he opens the back door for me, i get inside the car with a smile that just cannot disappear.
