chapter 2 ~ steps

~ a week later ~

Walking through the forest, it is raining. We have been walking for at least a week now, if it is not longer. No food, no water, only things we were able to get easy. There were also no other people to be found. We need to do everything to find Becca back.

"Maybe we should just, give up?" says Lauren.
"No, we don't give up, we need to keep going. " answers Julia.
"Yes I agree, we have been going on for so long so we are not gonna stop now." says Shawn.
In this one week, Ross and KJ already left the group to go out on there own.
Suddenly we hear a gun, a sniper shot. "Keep quiet guys." whispers Thom. They all go to the ground slowly and hide in the bushes. Then there is another shot. "What if it is Becca?" says Tom a bit too loud. "Shhtt shut up." answers Alanna quietly. Then they hear footsteps, slowly coming closer. Chandler and Maddie are holding each other in fear. Miw is shaking and Crish is almost crying. The steps are still coming closer.
"Should we run?" says Miw. "Yes we should." answers Jessamy. "No, now we stay here, the thing that is out there is too close now." says El. "If you wanna run, just run, if you don't want to, then stay here but I'm running for sure." says Miw. The group decides to split, Miw, Jessamy, Lauren, Thom, Julia, Shawn and Tom are going to run.
El, Maddie, Chandler, Mia, Crish, Alanna and Shelby are staying in the bushes.
"Okay, so I count down and then we run." says Shawn. "One, two, three.."
The group disappears between the trees.

"So we stay here till we don't hear anything anymore?" asks Mia. "Yes," answers El, "but we need to stay quiet." Chandler and Maddie are still hugging each other because they are scared. The footsteps are still coming closer. "What do we do if it keeps coming closer and it notices us?" asks Shelby in fear. "I don't know, we should, still run if that happens. I think." answers El. The steps come closer.

"So, are we far enough now?" asks Thom. "Yes, I think so," answers Shawn, "let's find a place to sleep here, because it is getting dark." "Yeah let's do that." says Miw.

"Hey Jessamy!" says Tom.
"Hi Tommy, how are you?" answers Jessamy.
"Scared, hungry but what ever."
"Yeah me too, but we are safe now, don't worry."
"So, I don't know if I should tell this stuff in this situation." goes Jessamy.
"Haha just tell me!" says Tom.
"So, I don't know but since the party last week, I felt something for you. And, you know, I, I-"
"I noticed that, and don't be scared, I feel the same way." says Tom.
Slowly they start getting closer to each other.
"Are we going to do this, we have no idea what is going on in this world." asks Jessamy.
Tom kisses Jessamy on her forehead. Jessamy takes Tom his heads and moves it to her mouth. They start making out.

"TOM AND JESS" screams Miw. "COME BACK!" They run back to the group. "We heard another gunshot, and it came from the forest where the other part of the group is." says Thom. "And then we also heard a scream out of fear, but we don't know who it was." says Julia. "Should we go ba-" but another shot interrupts Julia her sentence. The gunshot is again followed by a scream, this scream was very close. Then Jessamy turns around, and sees Tom laying on the ground with his head all bleeding.
