chapter 8 ~ this is a war

"So Ross must be somewhere out here?" asks Jessamy.
"Yes, I think so." answers KJ.
KJ screams Ross his name, in the hope he will hear it. "Rooosss, where are you at?"
There is no answer, Jessamy and KJ decides to walk a little bit further. They hear alarms, coming from the way where Ross must be.
"Rosss!! Are you here?" screams Jessamy.
Then they see other people coming, a big group running towards them. Jessamy and KJ quickly go in the bushes and hide.
"Just stay quiet, who knows who they are and what they are doing here Jess."
The people are coming closer, still running.

"Keep running, maybe they are still chasing us!" says an unknown voice, a female voice.
"Mia... she is.. dead." says another voice.

The voices are coming closer. KJ looks out the bushes, he sees a face he remembers. It is El, the person KJ and Jessamy were with before. This must be their group, maybe Ross is also with them.
KJ goes out the bushes, "Hey guys, do you still remember me?"
The group stops running and looks at KJ, while Jessamy also goes out the bushes.
"Oh my god, you guys are alive and okay." says Shelby.
"No time to talk now, we need to keep going." says El.
"Run for what?" asks Jessamy.
"We will explain later, just follow El." answers Maddie.
Jessamy and KJ join El her group and run away from The Hunters their camp.

They are far away now, so they decide to take a break.
"So, where were you guys running away from?" asks KJ.
"We were going to find Jessamy and Tom, with this group but also Miw, Thom, Shawn, Julia and Lauren. But then we got taken by the group and split in two groups. Then we got locked in a house, and we escaped but the alarms in their camp started to ring, so they noticed us. We found a gap in the fence, so we got out but Mia got killed by them and we don't know where the other part of the group is. How did you guys come here?" answers El.
"We were also taken by a group, but a smaller group. We also escaped but we lost Ross, so we were trying to find him." says KJ.
"Mia is.. dead?" says Jessamy.
"Eh, yes, I'm sorry." answers Shelby and hugs her.
"But Ross is also gone? And what about Tom, wasn't he with you, Jess?" asks Chandler.
"Yes, Ross is gone but we know where he went, he headed this way, so maybe he is in the place where you guys came from. Tom was with me yes, but he got killed by.. by the people we got taken by." says Jessamy and starts crying again.
"If Ross is in there, I'm sorry, but we can't go back. They already killed one of us." says Crish.
"Maybe we can come back later, only Jessamy and me?" says KJ.
"That is possible yeah, just be really friendly okay. We don't wanna lose both of you too." answers Shelby.
"Anyways, we are going to search for a place where we can stay for a while now, then Jessamy and KJ can go to the camp to get Ross back, if he is in there, the others of us will stay here. And when we did that, we can search for Miw, Thom, Shawn, Julia and Lauren." says El.

two days later.

"Hey Maddie, I told you that I will never leave you, and guess what, we are still together. I love you honey."
"We will never leave each other, we are the strongest together. I love you more Chandler."
They start making out and do 'fun stuff'.

In the past two days, the group find a place to sleep, not too far away from The Hunters their camp.
"Hi El, can Jessamy and me leave tonight to search for Ross?"
"Yes of course KJ. Stay safe okay, we love you."
"We will be safe, we will come back to this place as soon as possible."
KJ and Jessamy leave and go back to the camp.
"Okay, so we just go the gate, and we knock on the door. When we are in, we just ask for Ross." says KJ.

Jessamy knocks on the gate, three times. Someone opens the door, "who do we have here?" asks the woman.
"Hello, I am KJ and she is Jessamy and who are you?"
"I am Brooke, part of The Hunters. What are you doing here?"
"We are searching for a guy, named Ross. Is he in here?"
"Ooh he, yes he is in here. He is in good hands."
Brooke closes the gate again, but KJ blocks it from closing.
"Wait, can we take him with us?"
"I will ask, wait out here. I will come back in a few." says Brooke.

Brooke goes back in the camp.
"Are you sure we are going to do this?" asks Jessamy.
"Yes, we are going to do this. We will be okay, don't worry." answers KJ.

Someone of The Hunters, Steven, comes back, holding Ross.
"You mean this guy?" he says.
"Yes." answers KJ.
Steven hands over Ross, "in return, I want that girl." and he points at Jessamy.
"She is staying with us." says KJ.
"No." says Steven and gets his gun out of his pocket.
KJ also still has a gun, so he also gets it out and points at Steven.
"If you shoot at me, my team is gonna kill the three of you." says Steven.
"You think." answers KJ.
Ross looks at KJ and knocks yes.
Jessamy walks to Steven, but before she got there, KJ shoots at Steven and he falls down. His head is bleeding, he looks dead.
"Come guys, run with me!" says KJ.
"Wait, let me get his gun first!" says Jessamy.
Jessamy sprints to Steven, gets his gun and runs away with KJ and Ross to the place where their group is.

"Heeyy, you guys are already back. That was quick." says El.
"And Ross is with you, thanks!" says Crish.
"Yep! He was in their place, but a guy gave him back but he wanted Jessamy in return. I said no, so he got his gun but I shot him first and Jess got his gun. So we also have two guns now." says KJ.
"You killed him??" asks Maddie.
"I needed to..." answers KJ.
"Now we need to find Miw and the others back, they can't be far from here." says El.
Then they see some people coming from a distance, Ross sees a face he remember, Miw. Ross runs to Miw and hugs her. "I missed you so much." he says. "I missed you too"

The group is reunited now, El tells everyone what happened and everyone hugs each other.
(The group is now: Miw, Thom, Shawn, Julia, Lauren, Brit, El, Maddie, Chandler, Crish, Shelby, KJ, Jessamy and Ross).
"So what do we do now?" asks Thom.
"We start a big camp to defend us and fight the others. We need to make weapons and find a lot of food." answers El. "This is a war now."
