Here's to us

To the battles we fought together, and to To the people who fell, and despite our best efforts couldn't get up.Here's to the people whose tears stained cheeks didn't stop them from getting good grades, and To the people whose tests were panic attacks and still got all A's. Here's to the scars that we know will eventually fade, but know that the words that they said are here to stay. Here's to the people who gave everything, and To the people who heartlessly took it all away. Here's to the people who thought that they had it all because mighty triumphant was their fall. Here's to teachers that never mentioned how our hands constantly shook, and To the teachers who gave an endless amount of kindness no matter how much we took. Here's to the people who fought daily to let people know that they are loved, but were never told it themselves. Here's to the people that can't stand it when others are racist, and To the people who don't understand the negative stigmatism behind the topic of who you love. Here's to the people who spent the nights hoping to make it through and the days wishing they hadn't. Here's to the people that just needed a friend and to the people who were there for them. Here's to the people who stood in the back of the dance trying to imagine that the world wasn't closing in, or that people weren't watching them gasp. Here's to the people who consider happiness to be freeing and hope to be a blooming beauty. Here's to the times that were whisked away as a tangled mess of memories in need of a tidying. Here's to anyone who ever felt lost or discarded. Here's to the people who had finally found their place but, will never truly feel safe because the world just had to put a label. Here's to the people who didn't try to impress or, for the people who did and their hopes were repressed.

Here's to us.

To the memories of past lives that we'll "Never Forget" but never remember.

Here's to us.

Hey yall! As the school year was closing in, I decided I needed to write a poem to help ease the stress a little. I am posting this on the last day of school because it felt like good closure as I end this chapter in my life. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
