Just My Thoughts.

It Gets Better

Now this next one is important, and it might seem like it's aimed at certain people, but it's not. I'm writing this because sometimes people need to hear it, even if it's not what they want to hear. 

It gets better. It's a simple sentence that has been chanted through tears, screamed between curses and said gently to others. It's a phrase that both comforts and taunts more people than you can imagine.  It's been quoted and the words have been rearranged by thousands of different people but the message is all the same. 

It. Gets. Better. And it does, get better. Nothing is consistent, life is constantly changing and though it's scary it's true. 

Sometimes life puts you in really shit situations that you have no control over. Sometimes you wait for it to blow over and sometimes you learn to adjust to what you've been given. You need to see the light in everything you do because there is always another day and there is always something to look forward to, even if that seems impossible. 

Now, just to shake it up I asked a few friends what their opinion on the phrase 'It gets better', and how they would rephrase it. Here are some responses; 

I put their initials next to what they said, so you can tell the difference.  

"H.old O.n P.ain E.nds" -R.C.

"No matter how rough the road you're going through is, eventually, everything will get better. When you hit rock bottom, the only other direction to go is up."- A.H.

"The phrase 'It gets better'  is not positive for me. Most of the people that have said this to me have caused me all of my negative feelings. Also, when people say this I feel like it's when people ask if you're okay and you say you are okay and you really aren't. And I guess that's what the phrase 'It gets better' means to me." -B.Z.

"It will always be better in the future."-M.S. 

"In the end, everything will turn out how it is supposed to." -A.K.

"Everything is adaptable, it all improves with time, effort and experience."-P.B.

I decided not to edit out the negative or neutral responses (admittedly I did remove a few because they literally made no sense)  because I did ask the question and everyone answered exactly what was asked.
