A killer smile - Alex Hayes

Chapter 6

Tuesday.

The suns beam woke me up in the morning. i was so tired last night i forgot to close my curtains, causing me to wake up at 6am, 45 minutes before i needed to. i check my phone and i have a message from alex.

alex: "you awake? i'm bored."

me: "sadly yes. what do you wanna do?"

alex: "wanna meet archie again? he seems to like you."

me: "i'll be over in 30 minutes. are you parents okay with it?"

alex: "i told them i made a new friend and they'd love to meet you. my parents are chill."

me: "sounds good."

I walked into my bathroom and had a shower. i usually shower every morning and night. a hot one at night to relax me and a cold one in the morning to wake me up, which is exactly what i needed.

I hop out of the shower and grab my clothes. i decided to wear some black skinny jeans and a ripcurl shirt. my natural waves reach the arch of my lower back and i leave them be. i put on my black vans and apply a little bit of mascara to make me look more awake. it's now 6:30. i pack my school bag and my purse and leave a note for mum on the kitchen.

'gone to get some coffee, i'll see you after school- april.'

As i'm heading down the street i see alex and archie sitting outside the front of the house. Archie hops out of alex's hands and runs over to me. such a loyal cat.

I love blue burmese (archie's breed), their fur is so silky and they're such loving cats. i greet alex with a warm hello and we walk inside.

Holy shit. this house is.. wow. I stop in the middle of the walkway to admire how aesthetic the place is. I hear someone walk down the stairs, it doesn't look like alex's mum or dad so it must be his brother.

"Hi i'm josh, alex's brother." he smiles. his smile is the same as alex's. they don't look much alike, josh has brown hair and you can tell he's a little older. he doesn't look as sporty as alex, yet he's still attractive.

"hi, i'm april. Nice to meet you." I force a smile.

There's something about this house that makes me feel at home, more than i've ever been. Another person comes down the stairs, this must be alex's mum.

"well hello there gorgeous, i'm Helen. Mathew is upstairs making you two some coffee, i hope you don't mind!" She seems so sweet!

"aw thank you! I'm april, and a coffee would be delightful." It's true, i really need a coffee. I'm still half asleep. Alex takes my bag and puts it on the couch. i follow him into the living room, and my eyes catch something.

"Awww alex! you were so adorable. what happened?" i joke, looking at his family photos. he hasn't really changed much, only his hair is longer now.

"Haha, very funny april. come on, seems to me sarcastic ass needs a coffee." With that, we walked upstairs and got out coffee.

I saw Mathew, he looks so much like alex. The blue eyes and the smile is almost identical to alex.

"Hi love, i'm Mathew. You must be april." He puts his hand out to shake mine, i accept.

"Hi mathew, and yes i'm april. thanks for the coffee, just what i need on an early morning."

"Alex taught me how to make such a good coffee. he use to work at the coffee store just down the road. he can make a mean coffee."

The more i know about alex the more i want to. Everything about him is just perfect, i'm glad i've met such a good friend. (A/N lol fkn friend zoned)

"Well let's hope i wake up early every morning from now on!" i smile.

"It's 7:00, what do you want to do?" Alex says as he washes up our coffee cups.

"Id love to see more of manly i guess, but my bus leaves in 45 minutes." Sadly, mums car isn't getting shipped over here until next week. i'll have to make do until then.

"Fuck the bus, you live a 2 minute walk down the road from me. I can take you and drop you home from school, it's no biggie."

This must be the sweetest family out. Alex is the sweetest though. i've only known him for a day and he's already done more for me than anyone else has, apart from my mum. i take up the offer and we head downstairs, grabbing my bag and heading towards the car.

"Thanks for having me over! and thanks for me mean coffee! I yell out to the Hayes family. Just before i close the door, i hear someone singing.

"Wait." i tell alex.

I head back inside and follow the sound. It lead me to a room with a piano in it and Josh playing away and singing to ed sheeran. He's amazing. Once he finishes the song, i give him a round of applause and he turns around, smiling at me.

"That. was. amazing. " i tell him.

"I didn't know you could sing! Maybe we could duet sometime. " he seems surprised by my words.

"duet! you sing?" yep, defiantly surprised.

"I'm not amazing but I won't blow up a bird."

"Alex, have april around a lot more often. I like this one.."
