A killer smile - Alex Hayes

Chapter 11

We pull up into school and make our way over to Nick, bayley and the girls. The car ride to school was full of conversation about josh and i's singing. Alex seems impressed about my voice. I told him i never did singing lessons and he told me he has. He said he did them with his brother for a while but people were giving him crap for it so he stopped. That was back when alex cared about what people said about him. He wants to get back into it one day, he loved doing it.

"I'm gonna walk you today." Alex says as we walk over to the boys and girls. I don't mind who walks me honestly. I don't really need anyone to walk me anymore as i know where i'm going and I have someone i know in every class i have.
"Okay."

As we approach everyone, they turn their heads to the sound of our footsteps. The girls smile brightly, same with the boys. I've forgotten about yesterday's incident with them. I mean, i have something to hide and can't have anyone know, maybe they do too. Well, that makes me really curious. oops.

We talk for awhile about how i learnt to surf. Caitlin seems really happy for me as she knows how hard it is to learn to surf. I still remember the first time i stood up on the board- alex cheering for me next to me and nick and bayley behind me screaming.

"It's 8:28, we should get going." Alex announces. Everyone says goodbye to each other and heads their own ways - but alex walks me to class as we have math first up.

"You know, i know my way around the school now, so I don't need you all to walk me everywhere." I sound rude and immediately regret what i said.

"I know. But I also know you enjoy my company. Plus the boys like have a crush on you or something. They're never like this, especially nick." Alex says as we sit down in our seats, ready for math.

What alex said made me think for the rest of the lesson. Nick has been trying to get really close to me. Not that i don't like it, it's just I haven't seen it with my own eyes until now. I can see myself dating nick, but I know my mother wouldn't allow it one little bit.

"Class, you're dismissed. Except alex and april, you two stay." Uh oh, what did i do wrong? Alex and I walk up to sir and see what the deal is, unsure of what he's going to say.

"So alex, when are you free to tutor April?" Thank god. I thought i was in trouble or sir found out that there is no such thing as April Johnson.

"Monday and Thursdays, anytime after school." I'm free any day after school. I don't do sport but i'm usually studying.

"I'm free then too, sir."

"Amazing. April, I better see your marks improve." It sounded like a threat, but I brushed it off. Alex and I head off to our next class – him walking me to mine (Physics).

Physics is the most boring subject in my opinion. All we learn about is waves and particles and earthquakes and what not. Im not really interested in science as I more like learning about history. Even though science is better to understand in the long run, i find history interesting and intriguing.

"Pst, april." I turn around in the middle of Physics to some random girl calling my name. She's pretty. Her green eyes and blonde hair make her tan look even more tan – if that's possible.

"Uh, do I know you? How do you know my name?" It's a bit odd some random girl knowing my name. I'm only new here so I don't expect anyone to know me.

"Are you kidding me? Everyone knows you. Aren't you and alex a 'thing'? Oh and hi ahah I'm eva." I love the name Eva, it's pronounced Ava, but the way you spell it makes it ten times better.

"Me and Alex, a thing? We're friends, that's about it." I try to imagine alex and i being a 'thing'. what even is a thing? Is it like, dating?

"Well he never really hangs out with girls apart from his three little minions." I think she's referring to Caitlin, Olivia and Alley.

"They follow him around like he's the king or some shit. I get it, he's hot but he ain't Martin Luther. "

"Miss Johnson and Miss Bate, would you like to share with the class what you're talking about?" I turn back around from Eva and face the front of the classroom. His minions? What does she mean by that. Does he use them for.. that? I shake off the thought as it hurts my heart to think of alex doing something like that. He wouldn't, would he? No April, he wouldn't.

"Have a good weekend, class." Weekend? Shit, it's friday! this week went to quick! Alex's party is tomorrow night and I have nothing to do until then. I whip out my phone and decide to text nick, alex and Bayley.

Me: "Yo, the seas calling me and my surf board. I'm pretty sure i heard it call you guys names too. Join me?"
Nick: "Id thought you'd never ask"
Alex: "I'll run home and get some boards!"
Bayley: "I'll drive April and Nick there. We will meet you there Alex."
Me: "Sounds like a plan."

That wasn't so hard.
