A few days later (Thursday afternoon)...
I walked out of my Psychology class, wanting nothing more than to play video games with Sohinki and Lasercorn to blow off steam. I loved hanging out with them the most, since none one else in our circle of friends liked video games like us. I could get together and be girly with Kalel, Mel, and Mari or I could help Ian and Anthony with recording their videos, but hanging out in Sohinki and Lasercorns room was my favorite thing to do. I was so caught up in daydreaming about what I was gonna do once I got to Sohinki and Lasercorns room that I bumped into someone. AGAIN. And I fell over. I hit the ground with a thud and winced in pain,
"Oh geez! I'm sorry!" the guy I had bumped into said. He held his hand out to me. I took it and he helped me up, "are you okay?" he asked, concern evident on his face. I nodded,
"I'm fine, sorry, I should have been watching where I was going". I looked up at him. He had short-ish black hair and glasses. Before I could say another word I felt someone grab my other hand. I turned to see Sohinki standing next to me with an jealous look on his face. The guy that had knocked me over released my hand,
"I'm Joshua, by the way, but Joven works too" he said nervously. Sohinki was still glaring at him. I gave his hand a reassuring squeeze and his gaze softened a tiny bit,
"I'm Molly and this is Matt-"
"Sohinki" he corrected.
"Nice to meet you guys..." Joven replied awkwardly, "you're both on the tenth floor in the freshman building, right? I've seen you around" he said, trying to maintain the conversation.
"Yeah! That's weird that we haven't met before" I replied.
"I actually think I'm a couple doors down from you. I always hear your roommate yelling and swearing" Joven said to Sohinki. Sohinki simply scoffed and I spoke up before he could,
"They're both avid video gamers. I keep telling them they need to keep it down or they're gonna get in trouble" I said, bumping Sohinki with my shoulder.
"No that's cool, I've really been missing my PS2 at home. I'm a big gamer too" Joven responded. I perked up at that,
"You should come play with us! We're going back to Sohinkis room now" I said excitedly. I looked at Sohinki and he gave Joven a half-smile,
"Yeah, you can come play with us".
We trekked to our dorm building and were up at Lasercorn and Sohinkis room a few minutes later. Sohinki unlocked the door and we found that the room was empty,
"Where's Lasercorn?" I asked.
"He's probably getting food. Come on, let's just pick a game and he can join us when he gets back".
We spent the next half hour getting annihilated by Joven in Injustice. Sohinki looked like he was getting ready to explode, being the most competitive out of all of us. Lasercorn joined us just as Joven beat Sohinki for about the 50th time,
"What's wrong with him?" Lasercorn asked, pointing to Sohinki.
"He lost. A lot" I said with a smirk. Lasercorn snickered and sat down to face Joven after introducing himself. We hung out in Lasercorn and Sohinkis room for so long we lost track of time. There was a knock at the door and I went to answer it. It was Mari,
"Oh hey, what's up?" I asked her nonchalantly.
"You haven't been answering your phone? So I had to come find you and I had a feeling you'd be here" she answered, with a tinge of annoyance.
"Oops..." was all I could say. I invited her in and closed the door. She froze in her tracks when her eyes met Jovens, who had turned around to see who had come in. She immediately did a 180 and walked out the door. I followed her,
"Mari!" I called. She stopped walking and turned to face me. Her face was flaming, "What's wrong? Do you not like Joven?" I asked, concern lacing my voice. She scoffed,
"Don't like him? Molly, I have the BIGGEST crush on him! He's in my sociology class! I've liked him since day one!" she said sternly. I was taken aback,
"So...why don't you talk to him?" I asked.
"It's not like you and Sohinki. I had a crush on him first. We didn't become friends and then like eachother. I just...I can't do it...I'm too nervous. I'm so embarrassed". With that she turned around and walked away. Passing right by our room,
"Where are you going?"
"To my studio". I let her go and went back into Sohinki and Lasercorns room. As soon as I went in Sohinki was right in front of me,
"What happened? Is Mari okay?" he asked, concerned. I walked past him and stopped when I was standing in front of Joven,
"What do you think of Mari?" I asked him, getting straight to the point.
"You mean that girl that was just in here? I've had a crush on her for a while..." he replied, his face tinting red,
"Then ask her to homecoming. She likes you too". I was in no mood to sugar coat anything. I wasn't going to let Mari go to homecoming alone when the guy she liked liked her back and I certainly wasn't going to let her chance to go out with him get passed up just because she got embarrassed. I ended up staying with Joven, Lasercorn, and Sohinki longer than I thought trying to help Joven think of a way to ask Mari to homecoming. I got a text from Mari at around 11:30,
'I just got back. I'll leave the door unlocked for you. Are you still with them?'
'Yeah, don't worry. I promise everything is gonna turn out okay with Joven :3' I replied. I said goodnight to the boys as I left, Joven following me out,
"Are you sure this will work?" he asked nervously.
"Yes. I promise she'll love it" I reassured him. We parted ways when I got to my door. I opened it and stepped inside to see Mari sprawled out on her bed, still covered in a thin sheen of sweat. I concluded that she must have pushed herself extra hard to blow off steam. Not that I blamed her,
"You should shower and go to bed. We need to wake up early tomorrow"
"Wha-? Why?" she said as she sat up.
"You'll see. It's a surprise" I said with a mischievous smile on my face. She have me a warning look that said 'you better not have just screwed up my chances with this guy' before leaving to shower. She came back a few minutes later and wordlessly plopped onto her bed and fell asleep. I followed suit soon after, excited for what would be happening tomorrow.
I awoke to soft knocking. I shimmied out of bed and answered the door quietly. Joven was standing in front of me with an envelope,
"Everything ready?" I asked. Joven nodded and taped the envelope to the door before heading back to his room. I ran back into my room and shook Mari awake,
"Mari wake up!! There's something on our door!" I said frantically. She sat up quickly,
"Hnuh?" she mumbled, still half asleep. I pulled her out of bed and shoved her towards the door,
"There's something on our door for you!" I said, pulling open the door and retrieving the envelope. I was light blue and had her name on it. I handed it to her and her eyes widened when she saw it. I could tell she was fully awake now. She opened it and inside was a card that said 'follow the arrows! -Joven'. We emerged from our room to see an arrow taped to the wall in front of our door. We walked in the direction it was pointing and soon saw another. We kept following the arrows that were scattered throughout the entire floor and ended up in front of Jovens room. He had a poster taped to his door that said 'Mari, HC?'. Mari gasped loudly and cupped her hands over her mouth. She ran towards Joven and jumped into his arms hugging him. Thankfully he caught her. I smiled proudly, now even more excited for homecoming, which was rapidly approaching.
