Chapter 15

*********HOW THEY MET (PAUSE)************

I woke up, we were on the couch we had been talking about how me and Mads met and stayed up late. I looked at my leg and it was worse than it was, i really needed to go to the hospital. I got up, in pain and walked well limped to the kitchen " shit!" i said, i banged my leg of the table, i walked over to the cupboard for some paracetamol. I stretched up but my ribs hurt, i sighed and tried again, i got them! 

I took some and i heard the mail, at that point Greg woke up, he got of the chair he was on and turned to me" you up!" i nodded " no im a ghost!" i said sarcastically, he walked over to the door and grabbed the post he came back looking through it " you have some mail!" he said handing me them, i looked at them, bill,bill,junk,NASA! I sighed" NASA!" i said to Greg, Mads and the kids were all huddled together but i heard a noise, it was Scott, he got up and walked over to the kitchen stool and sat on it " morning sweetie!" i said and ruffled his hair. He smiled " morning mum!" he said and yawned. Jess woke up and looked bright and cheery, she came up and hugged me and i hugged her back " whats that for?" i asked and she shrugged " you looked like you could do with a hug!" i laughed a little " any mail for me?" she asked, and she took what was there and stared at the one from NASA, i turned around to get some coffee and i heard Mads was up " theirs one from NASA!" Jess said and i didn't say anything "what?" i heard Mads say. 

I still didn't say anything, i didn't want to, i knew what it was about but i wanted to tell them when i had confirmation. I turned back around to see everyone staring at me, i sighed and drank my coffee, i looked at Mads and she scratched her head " i-im off to get dressed!" she said and quickly walked away, there was silence. I could tell she wasn't, i could see in her eyes she was about to cry. I turned to Greg "could you take the kids somewhere today?" i asked and he looked at me " i cant im meeting someone!" he said in defense "who?" i asked, i wanted to talk to Mads alone first, he sighed and bowed his head " im meeting James!" he said and i stared at him " wait James,James!" and he nodded " look you don't have to take them for long, take them with you if you want but i really need to talk to Mads!" he nodded " okay, but you owe me!" i smiled and Scott came and hugged my leg "i don't want you do go away again!" he said while looking up at me, i bent down to him and smiled " don't worry im not going anywhere without you all!" he smiled " no more space!" he said and i laughed a little " no more space!" he hugged me" come on go with uncle Greg!" he let me go and i got up and Jess was staring at me with a smile on her face "what?" i asked and took another drink of my coffee " no more space?" she asked and i nodded "no more space!" she smiled even more and gave me a hug.

The kids and Greg left and i walked to mine and Mads' room, our door was shut. I knocked on the door and she didn't answer" Mrs Tyler, i have a problem at home and i was wondering if we could talk?" i asked, but there was no answer " you see someone i love alot isn't talking to me and is hurting and i want to help but they wont open the door, do you know what i should do?" i asked, there was a wait before she opened the door, she had tears streaming down he cheeks, i frowned when i saw her"g-give them a hug!" she said and i gave her one of my big bear hugs, i kissed the top of her head, i walked in the room and we sat on the floor with our backs against the bed "now whats got my girl all upset!" she smiled when i called her mine but she was still crying, she rested her head on my collar bone and i put my arm around her, i had the letter in my pocket, i had read it and it was confirmation of me quitting, it gave me a number to tell the university to speak about setting up an introduction meeting, they were informed that they had a new physics teacher and they wanted to meet me.

Mads sniffed and sighed " i cant do this Gem, i cant keep seeing you off and being worried for three months!" she said and i looked at her, was she wanting to split? " y-your not wanting to break up are you?" i asked hesitant and she shot up " No! no no no!" she said and i smiled and gave her a hug "That's the last thing i'd ever want!" she said " i just don't know how to say it!" we sat back the way we were" just take a deep breath and say it,okay sweetie!" i said and she did what i said " i want you to quit your job!" she said and i smiled, i gave her a hug and kissed the top of her head and she held me tight" i already have!" i said and she pulled back and raised an eyebrow, i got the letter and gave it to her " read it!" she looked at me " please?" i asked and she opened the letter, she looked at it and her eyes widened " when?" she asked " after the interview, i couldn't keep doing this to you and the kids i wanted to be there at Jess' graduation this year not be away out in space!" it was true, i could see the effect it was having on them and it hurt me to watch. Mads looked at me and smiled she gave me a hug. "thank you!" she said and i laughed a little " well you can show me by taking me to the hospital!" she pulled away and looked at me and i pointed to my leg and she nodded while smiling, i gave her a kiss.
