I'm brought back to reality at the sound of the bell ringing throughout the room. I gather my books and scan the crowd trying to find Cameron. My eyes finally find his and I walk towards him as we continue to fight our way to the door. "That was quite an entrance, I'm very impressed." He says with a slightly humorous tone.
"Well, go big or go home, right?" I joke. He laughs and continues to maneuver past the other bodies filling the hallway. "Hey, who's that guy I sat next to today?" I ask. There's a pause and I look at him, slightly confused. Cameron looks little tense and his gaze hardens.
"I don't really know who you're talking about, I guess he's new." I look at him suspiciously, but decide to ignore his cold expression.
"Anyway, what's your next class?" He asks, trying to lighten the mood. I check my crumpled schedule and scan the paper.
"Honors English" I say with a grimace. Cameron check his schedule.
"I have gym next" he say in a sad tone.
"Oh well I guess I'll see you in lunch then." I said. He just quickly nods, not fully out of his sudden mood change and walks the other way. Why does he seem so tense? I wonder as I continue to walk toward my least favorite class.

I trudge into English class and brighten slightly when I see two of my friends sitting on top of the backs of their chairs, talking to each other. When I walk in, they turn and look at me. With wide grins and outstretched arms, looking like they're waiting for hugs, they simultaneously yell, "AUTUMN!" Getting a glare from the teacher and a laugh from me.
"Parker! Austin! How's it going guys?" I walk up to the twins and we do our signature hand shake. "You guys didn't end up in jail, I'm so proud." I wipe a fake tear off of my face. "Kids...They grow up so fast" I joke with a sniffle. They roll their eyes and I smile as I hug them quickly before sitting down next to them.
"We love your undying faith in us," Parker drawled out, matching my sarcasm. Our banter is cut short by the tardy bell ringing loudly through the room. I glance over at Austin just in time to watch him jump at the sound of the bell. He manages to fall out of his seat, slam into the desk behind him, and hit the ground with a thud. We are met with the extremely loud sound of Parker's hysterical, unforgiving laughter.
"First day and Austin's already killing Parker. Man, I can't wait until day two." I say with a grin just before our teacher begins the roll call. Maybe I can get through this year after all...
.......
The wonderful sound of the bell rings in my ears once again. "Thank GOD that class is over" Parker says a little too loudly. The teacher glances over at him with a disappointed look. I laugh at him as the three of us walk to lunch. I spot our usual table in the corner by the windows and see Cameron already sitting in his seat. I nod towards him to let him know we're here and continue on my journey to get food. Once I pay, I walk back toward the table. "Hey, where's Sam?" Austin asks.
"I don't know, but I th-" Cameron is cut short by a screaming voice from across the room.
"I'M HERE BITCHES" Sam announces with her hands in the air.
"Oh Lordy" I heard Austin mutter under his breath. Sam continues her glamours strut and plops down in the seat next to me. She grabs a french fry off of my plate and proceeds to look at us as if her announcement never happened. I roll my eyes and face the table once again. I keep eating and after a while of friendly, funny chatter, we're once again interrupted by Sam. She lets out a wolf whistle and I turn around curiously. I follow her gaze to find the mystery guy I was sitting next to in history.
"He looks more like a Greek God than a teenager," she says, sounding impressed. My gaze lingers on him and I watch as he stares back at me shamelessly. Sam turns to me and wiggles her eyebrows suggestively. "Who's that hottie? He seems to have an interest in you" she says with a wink.
"Nobody important" Cameron growls angrily, completely changing the table's mood.
"Dang boy, it was just a question" Sam retorts defending herself. The bell rings to announce the end of lunch and the mysterious guy's gaze slowly lifts as he throws his bag over his shoulder and leaves the cafeteria. I turn back to face my friends to find the cold scowl on Cameron's face once again.
"I don't know what has your panties in a twist but all I can say is that he sure is easy on the eyes." Sam says turning to me.
"You can say that" I mutter, trying to hold back my smile. Sam gasps and points to my face.
"YOU'RE BLUSHING!" She yells. I cover her mouth to try and shush her, but she speaks through my fingers in a sing-songy voice, "Someone has a crush!" The twins perk up at the idea of me having a crush.
"Hey, you haven't had a crush since you liked that one kid. What was his name? Was it Adam? Or was it Jordan? I can't remember but you get my point." Austin voices.
I roll my eyes."His name was Josh. And yes, I think he's attractive but I don't even know the guy. I don't even know his name. He could be a serial killer for all I know." I argue, trying to prove my point.
"All in good time Autumn, all in good time." Parker says with a smirk.
"Why am I even friends with you guys" I mutter and I gather my things.
All I can hear is Austin shouting, "You know you love us!" as I walk towards my next class.
