I blink my eyes open at the bright sun streaming through my cozy bed room's only window. I groggily sit up and turn to look at my alarm clock sitting on my bedside table. 6:45. I throw my covers off my bed in a panic. "Oh god I'm late" I mutter under my breath. My feet hit the cold floor as I run to the bathroom, the creaking of the floor announcing my presence. I glance at my reflection in the mirror, my bright green eyes staring back at me. I run a hand through my long, wavy brown hair and stare at myself for a few moments. Is this really me? First day of senior year... Do I look different? I don't feel different... I- "I am going to be late if I don't shut off my brain for 5 minutes to shower." I murmur with a small snort. I turn on the water and strip down before engulfing myself in the hot stream of water. Thank God David didn't drink away this month's water bill, especially since I was the one who worked the hardest.
I turn off the water and quickly dry off. I run back to my room, being as light on my feet as possible in an effort to not wake David up. I don't want to deal with him this morning. I went through my closet and managed to put an outfit together that makes me not look like the zombie I feel like. I ran a brush through my hair and let it fall down my back in natural waves. I put on a light layer of mascara and grabbed my bag and converse as I hobbled out of my room. As I enter the kitchen, the sounds of David's snores echo through the house, giving me peace of mind. I open the fridge to find it almost empty. Note to self: go grocery shopping. I grab an apple from the top shelf and shut the fridge door lightly. I snatch my keys off of the marble counter and open the front door to a blast of warm air. I close the door and walk to the driver's seat of my car taking in a deep breath of fresh air. I pull out my phone and check the time, 7:30. Senior year, here I come.
