"When are you moving?"

John asked.

"Tomorrow," replied Lizzy.

Dawn didn't feel like talking much. The trio of nine year olds were laying down in the park on the grass watching clouds. Liverpool was a lovely shade of baby blue. Dawn absolutely loved it.

"Are you olright Dawn? You 'aven't been speaking much." Lizzy asked in a concerned tone.

John was a bit worried about Dawn too. She's been acting odd for the past few weeks, would it have to do with Lizzy moving? I know she's sad but...-

John's train of thought was corrupted by Dawn's somewhat different voice, "I'm olright... Jus' watching clouds 'tis all..."

Her voice was off, John decided. Lizzy seemed to notice too.

"No you're not. There's something wrong about you today." John stated boldly.

"Today? She's been actin' funny since I told you two about me moving away from Woolton," Lizzy added.

"No, I'm fine!" Dawn got up and escorted herself to the empty, lonely looking swing set.

"Girls..." John muttered.

"Oi.." Lizzy shot him a cold glare.

"Do you know what's bothering her?" John asked, ignoring the harsh look on Lizzy's face.

Lizzy sighed, "I might... But I can't tell you."

"What? Why not then?"

"It's not right."

"Just tell me!" John chimed eagerly.

Lizzy grunted and got up as John did too and then took him by his upper arm, leading them away from Dawn, "You can't tell Dawn I told you this, and you can't all of a sudden hate her. It's not her fault."

"Okay.." John said, squinting his eyes in hesitation.

Lizzy pulled John even closer, "She likes you John."

John arched an eyebrow, "Of course she does. I'm her best mate."

Lizzy rolled her eyes and smacked John's arm, "Not like that you idiot. I mean she likes you. Romantically."

John blinked a few times. Dawn likes me? He didn't know what to do.

He began to blush.

Dawn likes me... John smiled.

Suddenly, John's arm was once again smacked, causing him to snap out of his daze.

"Don't make it look like I've told you this. You aren't supposed to know about it," Lizzy whispered.

John smiled, "Yeah, I won't say anything about it."

Lizzy squinted at him for a few seconds. He had a goofy grin on his face and his cheeks were bright pink.

"Do.. you like Dawn back?" Lizzy smirked.

John's smile faded away abruptly, "No!" he yelled.

Lizzy clamped her hand over John's mouth.

Shhh!

Just then, Dawn looked up suspiciously. She squinted at John and Lizzy and felt a pang of jealousy in her chest seeing Lizzy with her hands on John, the both of them so close.

She stood up.

Though I know I'll never lose affection, for people and things, that went before.
I know I'll often stop and think about them.
In my life, I love you more.
