Dawn made her way

over to John and Lizzy with envy burning in her eyes.

"What are you doing?" Dawn hissed. The question was for the both of them, but Dawn almost spoke directly towards Lizzy.

Lizzy didn't know what to say. She opened her mouth to explain some made up story but was interrupted by John, "You fancy me!" he teased.

Dawn's eyes enlarged. I'm going to kill her!

"I'm going to kill you!" Dawn shouted.

Lizzy yelped and ran from Dawn.

A couple weeks after Lizzy

moved, Dawn's uncle Jack moved in with her and her mother. It was nice to have a man around the house.

"Uncle Jack!" Dawn gasped and ran up to him.

"Hey!" he hugged her and picked her up, "Oof, you're getting big!"

"Yup!" she laughed.

Dawn's mother soon came in with groceries.

"Mummy look! It's Uncle Jack!" Dawn yelled smiling.

"Uh huh," Mummy struggled to put everything down.

"Here," Jack helped her with everything.

"Uncle Jack you 'ave to meet John! He's me best mate!" Dawn was anxious to show him everything.

"I will, I will. Simmer down for a minute, gunpowder," he chuckled.

Dawn giggled.

He always called her gunpowder, Dawn remembered. Ever since she was capable of speaking he always called her gunpowder.

It was nearly three o'clock by the time Jack had gotten all settled in, and Dawn was still impatient to show him everything, including John.

"C'mon, c'mon! before it's too late!" she dragged him by the hand and out the door.

She first led him to the playground she always went to.

"This is the park where me an' John play! And that's his house right there!" she pointed to John's house, which was only four houses away from her's.

"C'mon ye gotta meet 'em!" she exclaimed, dragging him by the hand, still.

Jack smiled. He always loved her.

As they approached John's house Jack stopped Dawn.

Dawn looked back at him with confusion, "Come 'ed."

"Wait, love. Will it be okay with John's parents if we just showed up at their door unannounced?"

"John lives with Mimi. And it'll be olright, I do it all the time!" replied Dawn, smiling.

"And who is Mimi?" Jack asked.

"John's aunt! Come on!" she grabbed his hand and led him to the door.

Jack knocked on the door.

Mimi came and opened the door, "Yes?"

"Hello Mimi!" Dawn smiled up at her.

"Hello Dawn," she smiled at Dawn. Mimi always liked Dawn and thought she was a sweet little girl and a good influence on John.

"Hello, I'm Jack Winter, Dawn's uncle," he stuck out his hand towards Mimi.

"Mary Smith, nice to meet you."

The two shook hands firmly.

"Mimi, is John here? I want uncle Jack to meet him!"

"Yes, come right in," she smiled, letting them both into the house.

When Dawn ran in she noticed John's uncle George and Julia, his mother.

"Hi Uncle George! Hi Julia!" Dawn yelled while running by them towards the stairs

"Hello Dawn," George smiled.

"Hello love!" Julia yelled back enthusiastically.

Dawn ran upstairs to John's room. Dawn knew this house by heart. She came almost every day.

She finally reached John's room and opened the door.

"John, John!" she yelled.

"Dawn!" he got up from his bed, where he was writing in his little book. The Daily Howel probably, Dawn thought. She read all of John's wacky stories and silly drawings. She thoroughly enjoyed it.

John ran to Dawn and gave her a hug, "I was about to go see if you wanted to play in the park with me."

"I will, but I want you to meet someone first-" Dawn was interrupted by Nigel, John's dog. He was running at full speed towards her. "Hi Nigel!" she pet him once he stopped and looked jumped up on her.

John laughed, "Ohh, good boy."

Dawn finally got up, "C'mon, you 'ave to meet my uncle!"

Though I know I'll never lose affection, for people and things, that went before.
I know I'll often stop and think about them.
In my life, I love you more.
