Chapter 26

December 1

Justin closes his guitar case. He looks up to see Caitlin. He just finished busking. Caitlin wears a candy striper outfit. 

"Why are you dressed like that?" he asks. 

"We're going to the Morgue," she says. 

"Why?" he asks. 

"Just get changed, I'll explain on the way," she says.

 "Do I have to wear a dress like that?" Caitlin laughs as she hands him the bag of clothes. 

"No," she says.

 "Where did you get these?" he asks.

 "I know people," she says. 

"You stole them, didn't you?" he asks. 

"Just get changed." 

"Fine," he says as he goes into the bathroom.

"So what's the Morgue?" Justin asks Caitlin as she drives them. 

"It's where they store human bodies," she says. 

"And why are we going there?" he asks. 

"It's also where they store the autopsies." 

"And how is that going to help us find her killer?" he asks.

 "Cause the killer probably buried the weapon and if we know what the weapon is and where she was found, we might be able to find it," she says. They arrive at the hospital.

"How are we going to get in?" he asks. 

"We're dressed as nurses, just blend in," she says. They enter the building. Caitlin goes towards the elevator and presses the bottom button.

"It's underground," she says. The elevator opens and they walk out. They pass by other nurses and doctors. They go into the Morgue. Dead bodies lay on tables covered with sheets.

 "Let's make this quick, this place gives me the creeps," he says. Caitlin walks over to the back of the room and finds where the paperwork is stored. Justin opens a droll. He finds the Gs, and finds a file with the word, 'Gomez' printed on it.

Caitlin takes the file. She reads it out loud.

"Manner of Death; Homicide

Date Missing; November 15th, 2013

Date of Death; (found) November 30th , 2013

Cause of Death; Gun Shot to the Skull and Chest"

She skips to the next page. "Results confirmed that Gomez had been dead for 8 hours when found. Gomez was found in the woods behind Detroit High School. Her murder shot her in the head and in the chest with a shotgun." She looks through the pages and then looks to me. 

"There's a page missing," she says. 

"What do you mean?" Justin asks. She lays the pages out on a table. 

"Look page 1, 2, 4 and 5. Where's page three?" she asks. 

"What would have been on that page?" 

"The murder weapon, it would have had what type of gun she was killed with," she says.

They look around the room but don't find it. 

"Someone must have been here before us, the piece must have something that tells us something important about the killer." Justin looks to Caitlin. 

"I bet the killer has that sheet," he says. They hear voices in the hallway.

 "We should go." Caitlin takes pictures of the autopsy and they put it back. They leave the room and go out the back. 

"She was found in the woods, isn't that where Taylor Swift was found?" Justin asks.

 "Yeah, what if it's the same killer?" 

"I think we have some research to be done."
