Chapter 8: Keira

As they stood in front of the door Esperanza asked Keira if she was ready and once she nodded she pushed the doors open. She walked in and the small girl had the same reaction Esperanza did when she first saw the boss, which made her giggle. She walked up to him and asked if she could speak with him. She brought him over to Keira and told him that she thinks she should be a part of the Agency. This shocked both of them. He then asked if she has proof that she's worth it.

She shook her head but looked over at Keira and asked her if she can fight or knows a lot of information about human beings. Keira was silent for a moment before speaking to the two,

"Well I'm actually a trained ninja, both my parents taught me but were killed by Kyokimi. I lost all my weapons when I was attacked by a gang of them and your group found me in the aftermath of that robbery."

The boss looked at Esperanza and told her that he would have Kora work with her for a few days and have her decide whether she is good enough to join. She agreed and the two left his office to find Kora and tell her the boss's orders. They found her in the training room kicking and punching the life out of a punching bag. Esperanza called her out to tell her what was going on. The assassin was surprise at how open the boss was to the young stranger, but agreed and lead her over to the mats.

"You ready newbie?" She asked antagonizing her opponent. 

Keira took a deep breath, placed her hands together, and closed her eyes. Kora then rushed towards her but the girl suddenly vanished in thin air. Esperanza and Kora looked around wondering where she could have gone. With a matter of seconds Kora felt a powerful blow to her face as she was thrown into the air and crashed into the wall. Keira then reappeared with her leg in the air in a kicking position. Esperanza's jaw dropped at the power she had in her. Keira went over to Kora and reached out her hand to help her up.

"I wouldn't be a good opponent if I didn't help you get up after I've won."

"That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard, you expect to help a Kyokimi up too?" Kora hissed.

"Of course not I plan to kill them just like they killed my parents."     

Kora paused after hearing such a thing, but was pleased with the power this girl possessed. She asked if she wants to kill them in means for revenge and Keira nodded. But Kora told her that would be the worst idea she would make because she would be filled with rage every time she would be out in battle she would get carried away from the group.

"So now I want to know this, will you be willing to let go of your emotions in order for you to fight the enemy successfully? If not then I can't let you join me with the Agency."

Without hesitation Keira said she would do anything to be able to join if it meant having shelter and avenging her parents. There was a moment of silence. Esperanza and Keira became very tense at how you could hear a pin drop and seeing the glare in Kora's eyes putting fear in Keira that she may have failed. Kora finally told her the results of her test,

"Alright, I think with some good training you would be able to join the assassin squad at some point in time. But before then you'll be collecting data for the agents while you train." 

Keira almost cried knowing that she had found a place where she belonged, and Esperanza looked seeing her expression and knowing the feelings she was having. Keira thanked Kora and Kora led her to the same place where Esperanza went to have her ID made. The difference was Kora actually told her that she would feel a shock when the tube would close to measure her height and weight. Once they were done Kora printed her card and handed it to the girl,

Once Keira received her ID Kora directed her to where the employees stay and her room number. After handing her her keys she stared at her beat up clothes that were still covered in blood. She decided that she would grab a spare of clothes for the storage room to give to her as her official uniform. When she brought the clothes it was a pair of black shorts and leggings that reached her mid thighs; A blood red hooded poncho that stopped just at her belly button along with a black sleeve shirt stopping at her elbows would cover her upper torso. Kora gave her small black gloves and black converse as well.

As she told her to go change she faced Esperanza who was also in the same outfit that she had first arrived in. The fashionista wasn't going to have her get away with walking around looking out of place as well and gave her a new set of clothes: white ripped jeans with a black hoodie leather jacket. She gave her a new pair of combat boots to set the look. Now that Kora was pleased with the way they looked she led them to Keira's room; but it was also Constance's room.

Kora explained that she felt that Keira should room with Constance to get advice and that Constance is the most understanding of her. Esperanza wondered why this was considering her attitude and once they left Keira alone to settle herself in she asked her about Constance. But she explained,

"I can't tell you anything about Constance. That's something you'll have to ask her about, I'm to good of a friend to go behind her back and talk about her past to someone who barely knows her."

Keira understood but was frustrated at the same time because she knew that she would not be able to figure anything out from Constance from asking a question like that without getting nailed in the head based on what's she's heard about the woman. So she decided to go to bed from the long day. As Esperanza went to her room she was stopped by a face she had longed to see,

"Hey Esperanza! How have you been? You look like you've been hit by a bus."

It was Axel.

"Well thanks it's nice to know I look great, but I've just had a long day and am gonna lay down to try and rest."

"Oh my bad didn't mean to get in the way just wanted to let you know the boss has a new mission for us and I thought that you should take a look at it. But you should do it after you rest so you can focus."

As Esperanza scooted pass the man to make her way to room he made his way down the narrow pathway to meet up with another man. He was about the same height as him but was much more muscular. He was a member of the assassin squad.

"Hey Winston, have you heard about the girl you guys picked up? Apparently she's joining the Agency and Kora's training her to join the squad."

"Get out of here that chick must have super powers if she's got herself in so easily. Hell I'll fight her myself to see if she's truly worth fighting with me."

"Ok then, how about we make a bet. You fight her to help her train. If you lose your her official trainer along side Kora and if you win then she stays in the office."

"Ha sounds good to me since I know I'll be the one winning."

The two shook hands but what Winston didn't know was that Axel had spied on Kora's fight with Keira. He knew what she was capable of and he knew she would need more help than Kora would give.
