I died a hundred times. I got reborn a hundred times. Now I am running out of ideas. There are many creatures in this world but to remember all, is a talent. One, that I don't possess.
I get reborn and without opening my eyes I run away. This is a fight I cannot win.
I open my eyes. All I see is sand. I keep running until he would kill me again. I know what the Drevok is up to. He wants to force me to shapeshift into my true form so that he can possess me. I won't allow that.
I can't tell if he is following me and I do not dare to look back. It's too frightening.
In the distance I discover large forms getting bigger with each passing second. Many red eyes are facing towards me.
This is it. I can't fight all of my fellow dragons. It would be like fighting against all elements. Wind, water, fire, earth, nature, blizzards, snow, lava, just everything against ice. There is no way I could win.
They're coming closer and I can hear them screeching. I turn around seeing Arexlan behind me. He's coming closer too.
I close my eyes. There is no point in seeing my end.
I try to relax but my heart is racing. I can feel the earth rumbling as my fellow dragons land on the sand. They are surrounding me. Ready for action. I count to three:
One.
Two.
Three.
Pain. As I said: All elements fighting me.
Then again: the pain stops and darkness comes in. Should I let the darkness consume me? Or should I let the evil consume me?
What happens if I let the darkness consume me? Will I return to the Creator? Or will I wake up?
If the evil consumes me I would be trapped in my own body, screaming for release. I don't want that.
I choose darkness.
I let it consume my body and soul till I feel free. I open my eyes and in front of me a white figure is standing.
It is tall and wears a long white dress. Well it isn't a dress... It appears to be light. Its long black hair falls down its back. It turns around. Now I can see that the dress was just a cape. The dress it is wearing is actually colorful and full of variety. I look into the face of the figure. Eyes of a thousand colors and a face so beautiful it appears to be heaven.
Just until now I notice that I am standing in front of her: our Creator.
I bow to show my respect.
"Elarayne. I was waiting for you.", the sweet voice, I heard on the day of my creation, says.
"You were waiting for me?", I ask.
"Yes.", she comes closer to me,"Bad things have come upon you. There were times with struggle and times with joy. That's life. Life is full of variety. It's not one thing. Not just darkness or light, heat or cold, dry or wet, it's all of them combined. I want you to understand that. As all of those things belong together, there is a struggle to find the balance between those things. If there's too much darkness, some will die, if there's too much light, some will die. That's why I created you and your companions. The rulers among the creatures. Not above them. Your task is to create a balance between good and evil and so much more. Elarayne: is your world balanced?"
"No..."
"That's right. It isn't... at the moment. You are the only one who can change that. Return from the dead once again and fulfill your task. It's time to end this madness... One way or another."
The Creator leaves me in the dark space. She's right. I can change this. It's not too late. Our world is just out of its balance. I need to defeat the evil and everything will be alright. It's just as she said: It's time to end this madness.
I leave the dark space being convinced to not fail this time. I only have one chance.
I shapeshift into my dragon form and as soon as I open my eyes I send a blast of ice into every direction. I am not giving them the chance to attack me. No way.
I hear them preparing for another attack and I send a second wave of ice, but much stronger. It's quiet. I look around seeing my fellow dragons frozen. If I had reacted a second later, I would be dead for good.
They seem to still be alive. I can hear their hearts beating. The threat is neutralized... for now. I don't have much time before the ice melts. I am, after all, in the desert. But the sand storm helps me because the sun isn't getting through as strong as usual.
I notice some of the ice already melting but only on a few dragons. They seem to be the dragons based on the fire element, such as Fyrianne.
I must act quick. But... what to do?
I look at the red eyes. Such a shame. Their eyes are usually so colorful and now all of them are red.
I am confused... One Drevok can possess almost all dragons? That can't be possible... There must be more of them.
I take a closer look at their eyes. Something is moving inside of them... A creature with long black claws and red eyes. Its head is, as the rest of the body, consisting of black mist. Strange... I thought it would consist of red mist...
Could it be... that it's a Drevok? Is that how they look like?
The Drevok sees me and flees into the depth of the eye.
Suddenly I have an idea. No idea if it's any good but it's something.
During my journey I have collected knowledge of that being. They hid underground, possess beings to take control of it and can force a dragon to transform. It can affect dreams of creatures and I know how it looks like. Seems to be enough knowledge.
I concentrate. Trying to shapeshift into a Drevok. I can feel my body loosening up and changing it's form to mist. It takes a while as it is the first time transforming into an unknown being. But it works.
I took form of a Drevok.
