For the next two years the relationship between Dean Winchester and Castiel Novak grows and declines.

For a while when Castiel first came to school Dean ignored him. He didn't want to deal the feelings running through his mind when ever his forest green eyes met Castiels ocean blue ones.
But after maybe six months and the shocking discovery that Castiel likes five houses down, thanks to their younger brothers being friends, Dean decided to try and be friends with the new stranger.

It started out very slowly though as Castiel had no interest in beings friends and Dean wasn't used to rejection, being popular could do that to a kid.

Dean would come up to Castiel various times during their many classes together and try to spark up a friendly conversation and Castiel would kindly reply, but dean could tell the dark haired teen had no interest at all in Dean.

At least that's what he thought; what Castiel thought  he was doing was playing hard to get.
Of course the awkward teen with next to zero social skills was not good with trying to come across as interested in Dean, without actually showing him he was.

Dean eventually gave up. He went back to ignoring Castiel and focused more on his friends and football.

Castiel guessed he missed his chance and went back to focusing solely on school.

It wasn't until Sam was invited to Gabriels birthday party and dean was forced to go along that the two talked again.

Of course Dean had watched Castiel, in the least creepiest way of course.

The party was in the backyard of the Novak house, and there were slog of eighth graders there. Dean felt his head hurt.

He went into the house, in search of a bathroom when he came across Castiel sitting in his room with the door open. He was sat by the window of his room and Dean could have sworn the boy, in some strange way, shined bright then the sun in the sky.

At that Dean felt strange and started to walk away when Castiel noticed him.
Castiel sits up, watching Dean for a moment before speaking up.

"Couldn't take the party?" He questions. Dean shakes his head chuckling slightly.

"My brothers kinda quiet, and it's just me, him and my mom so I'm not used to so much..noise" Dean smiles softly, leaning against the door way. Castiel nods understandingly.

"That makes sense, well you can hang out in here if you'd like.." Castiel says, looking up at Dean, biting his lip slightly.

Dean looks at Castiel. It hurt to look at him, he thinks it would hurt more to look away though. He nods slightly, coming in and sitting on his bed. He blushes slightly when Castiel sits next to him. Dean had no idea why.

Castiel sets his hands on his knees, watching around his room before looking at Dean. He looked just as nervous.

Dean sighs softly, he didn't know what to say or do and he was starting to feel very awkward.

Dean wants to leave, he wants to get out but instead he sits there, turning towards Castiel and offering a small smile, Castiel seems to study him before saying.

"Why do you seem to have such an interest in me?" He questions. "I mean..You seem fairly popular, and I understood you only gave me that tour to get out of class, but since then you've tried to be my friend.. Which I appreciate, sorry for seeming uninterested by the way" Castiel says, watching Dean.

"You're pretty blunt aren't ya?" Dean points out. Looking away he felt the ash in his lungs again. He had no idea how to explain his interest in Castiel; he didn't understand it himself.

"I'm not sure" Dean finally says. "I just-" He gets cut off but Castiel this time.

"Are you..?" He trails off. He didn't say the word but Dean knew what he was talking about. At that he stands right up, a electric current shocking his entire body.

"No! What the hell kind of question! no- I-" Dean stutters around, starting to walk towards the door, still muttering to himself. "gay- what the hell- what"

Castiel watches him and bites his lip. Dean had given it away and he thinks Dean knew that too, but Dean doesn't stop at the door, he walks back to the party and sits down, huffing as his headache quickly comes back.
