A/N: Hey, Guys! I just wanted to say that I'm not the best writer, so there will be mistakes. I try to go through and find all the spelling and grammar mistakes, but I'm not perfect, so don't judge. In this story, Professor Mcgonagall is now the Headmistress of Hogwarts.
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters in this story, all of that goes credit to J.K Rowling. I'm only responsible for the plot in this fanfic.
Hermione's POV
After the war, things were going pretty well. I was living at the burrow, because I decided it was best for my parents to live in Australia without me. Harry and Ron were both aurors, so they were never home. I didn't really have anyone to talk to other than Ginny and she was going to Hogwarts soon, so I decided to write to Headmistress Mcgonagall.
Dear Headmistress Mcgonagall,
I'm writing to you to ask permission to re-do my 7th year at Hogwarts. Because of the war, I was not able to complete my schooling. I hope everything's going alright as the new Headmisstress.
-Hermione Jean Granger
I was hoping that she would accept me. With Harry and Ron gone at work all the time, and Ginny going to school, I didn't have anything else to do.
Draco's POV
After the war, not many jobs would take me considering my past. Most of the family wealth was taken during the war. Voldemort used my family for our money. My father gave him as much as he could so he could be on his good side. Now that the war is over, I have to get a job because there's not enough money for me to live off of. I applied for jobs everywhere, but no one would except me. I figured the only option I had was Hogwarts. Maybe I could be an assistant in the kitchen or another janitor. Filch was getting pretty old. I doubted that I could be a teacher, but I could at least try.
I went to Hogwarts, but the school year hadn't started yet, so there was only Professor Mcgonagall there. I went into her office, it looked just like it had when Dumbledore was Headmaster, except there were portraits of Dumbledore and Snape added to the past Headmasters.
"Yes, Mr. Malfoy, can I help you." She asked looking up from her paperwork and gesturing for me to have a seat.
"Hi. Professor Mcgonagall. I was just wondering if you had any jobs open. I've tried everywhere, I can't get a job anywhere."
"Well, it just so happens that we do have a spot open. We still need a Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher."She got up and walked over to this gigantic book. I followed her over. "This book contains the OWLs and NEWTs scores of everyone who has ever gone to Hogwarts. If you have an E or an O in that class, you are eligible to teach." She looked through the book, I really hoped that I was able to have this job. It took a long time for her to find my name because there were thousands of names in that book. She finally found my name. "You received an Outstanding in Defence Against the Dark Arts. You may teach this subject."
"Thank you so much, Professor. I won't let you down." I was so happy.
"You will need the supplies listed in this envelope. And the date of when teachers arrive is also in there." She said handing me what looked just like the Hogwarts letters we used to get as kids.
"Thanks." I took the envelope. "Goodbye." I stood up to leave.
"Goodbye Mr. Malfoy."
I was so excited I finally got a job. I went out to Diagon Alley immediately to get all my supplies.
Hermione's POV
When I finally got my letter back, I was scared to open it.
To Hermione Jean Granger,
I would like you to know that it is not normal for Hogwarts to give students a second chance, but considering the circumstances, I think it will be okay for you to re-do your 7th year of studies at Hogwarts. You will join the 7th years this year in their classes. See you at the start to term.
-Minerva Mcgonagall
I read and re-read the letter just to make sure it was real. I was beyond excited that I could do my 7th year again. I immediately wrote to Ginny to tell her the news.

Since we'd both be going back, Ginny and I decided that we could go shopping for school supplies together. We went to Diagon alley soon after I got the letter. I wanted to make sure I got everything, so I wanted to start early.
After shopping for a while, all we needed were the new books. "Okay, let's get our books." I said. Ginny rolled her eyes. "What? I can't wait to get the new books."
"Fine. We'll get the books." She said after a moment of silence. We went into the shop to get our books.
After we got all our books Ginny really wanted to visit Fred and George's joke shop. I wanted to keep looking at the books. We decided that I'd meet her there when I was done. (I just wanted to say that in this story, Fred is alive. I just couldn't let him die. I can't write about it because I will cry too much. I hope no one minds, but I mean who doesn't love Fred?)
I walked through all the aisles looking at all the books. I had read most of the books in the store already, but I was just looking for a new book that I hadn't read yet. I noticed a title I didn't recognize on the top shelf. I tried to reach for it, but I just couldn't get close enough. I tried jumping up, but that didn't work either. I was just about to give up when a long pale arm reached up and grabbed the book. I looked up to see Draco Malfoy staring down at me.
"Here." He said handing me the book. "I noticed you had some trouble getting it." He had a small smirk on his face.
"Thanks." I was about to walk away to buy the book, when he suddenly grabbed my arm.
"What are you doing here anyway?" He asked grinning. "This is a store for school books isn't it?"
"Yeah. I'm going back to school. I didn't really get to do my 7th year at Hogwarts with all the horcrux hunting and stuff. Mcgonagall said I could re-do my 7th year."
"Interesting. This should be fun." He was smirking even more now.
"What are you going on about?" I asked
"Well. I'm the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher."
"Oh. Crap."
"Oh? Is somebody scared I might fail them?" He asked in sarcastic concern.
"Well. Yeah. I mean, at Hogwarts we weren't exactly the best of friends."
"Don't worry. I won't fail you unless you do poorly in my subject which is pretty much impossible for Hermione Granger."
"Good." There was a bit of an awkward pause. "Well. I guess I'll see you at school Professor Malfoy." I said a bit sarcastically. I walked up to the front desk and bought the book. I passed him on the way out.
"Bye, Hermione." He said. I turned around. I was shocked.
"Did you just call me Hermione?"
"Well, that is your name isn't it?" I rolled my eyes and left the store. I walked about a block to the joke shop to meet Ginny.
"Hey, Hermione. What took you so long?"
"I ran into Malfoy."
"No way! Did he start anything? I'll go beat him up right now!" She was getting pretty intense, but it's not like she didn't have a valid reason.
"No. He was actually pretty nice to me. But even if he was rude, you can't beat him up because he's going to be our Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher."
"WHAT?!?!" Her voice made everyone in the whole store look at her as though she had three heads. "Who in their right mind would allow Draco Malfoy to be a professor at Hogwarts?"
"I don't know but we'll have to deal with it."
