Chapter 10: The Halloween Party

Harry's POV

A million things ran through my mind at that moment. Why is she dating the ferret? Is this a prank? Did he really change? What if he's still a Death eater? Hermione still seems herself, but could she be under the imperius curse?

"Malfoy." I nodded slightly. "Well, let's get going then." I said while taking Ginny's arm. Malfoy put his arm around Hermione and I tried to contain myself from lashing out. Then, I looked at her. A look in her eyes showed me something. It was love. The way she looked at him was different than anything I'd seen. She truly loved him, and that warmed my heart. We got to the dance floor, Ginny and Hermione started dancing. I seized my opportunity and said "Can I talk to you?" Malfoy looked taken aback, but nodded. I started walking away from the party with Malfoy following.

"So, what is it?"

"Well, I wanted to talk to you about Hermione. She's practically my sister, and if you ever hurt her, I will end you."

"Don't worry, I won't do anything to hurt her, and I won't let her go. She's one of a kind."

"You really love her, don't you?"

"Yes, with all my heart."

"Good. Now, I guess we can start being civil, Malfoy."

"I guess so, Potter." He stuck out his hand and I shook it.

"You finally got that handshake." We both chuckled a bit before we went back to the party. Hermione and Ginny were having a lot of fun, but a slow song started. Ginny came over to me and I brought her out the the dance floor.

Draco's POV

"Would you like to dance?" I asked in a fake fancy voice. She giggled at me. I loved that sound.

"Why, of course, Mr. Malfoy. I'd be delighted to dance with you." She said joining in on my joke. She took my hand and I led her out to the dance floor. We both danced to a slow song and then a few more songs until we both got a little tired.

"Hey, Ginny, get Harry. I want to take some pictures." She said when she found Ginny.

"Okay," She said as she walked off in search of Potter. She returned as Hermione got out her camera. She brought us away from the party so she could set it up.

"Okay, guys. It'll go off in a few seconds and take four pictures. Try not to move too much." We all nodded. She clicked the button and hurried over to us. We all smiled and it took pictures. We took a few more with some silly faces, but after that we returned to the party.

Hermione's POV

The party was all over and Draco was walking me back, we walked in pretty much silence to the Head dorm. We walked in and sat on the couch for a bit.

"I'm so hungry." Draco complained. I giggled and got up.

"I'll go make some food."

"Yes! I love you." He said it and blushed. I got a bit flustered. We haven't really said that before. "I'm sorry, I just- You know what? I'm not actually sorry." He stood up and walked over to me. "I finally said it. I love you Hermione Granger." I was so excited and nervous and confused and everything! I didn't know what to do or feel.

"I love you too." I said before kissing him. He kissed back and pulled me up so I was straddling him. I had his face cupped in my hands, and he was playing with my hair. It felt so perfect, and nothing would ruin this moment. After a while he started tugging at my shirt and I knew I would have to stop soon, so I pulled away and jumped down. "I'm sorry, I just don't think I'm ready for... that." I said and he blushed a bit. "I'll go get some food." I walked over to the kitchen and found some strawberries. I melted some chocolate and dipped the strawberries in it. I brought some over to draco and he looked really confused.

"What did you do to the strawberries?" He asked as I sat down on the couch next to him.

"They're chocolate covered strawberries. You can't tell me you've never had them!"

"They sound weird."

"You have to try one right now." I said picking one up and giving it to him.

"But it's chocolate and fruit." He was hesitant, but he finally tried it and his expression was priceless. "I can't believe I've never had these before. These are amazing!"

"I know." I giggled a little bit. That night was so perfect. We both fell asleep in each other's arms.
