The Space Between Us

On the road again (16)

Recap: so Isabella and her friend Peyton have just went to marshall. They are there for one day when they see Noah and Joe. Of course who follows after, Luke. In this very big adventure they make a few friends. And everyone of their friends are together except Isabella.  They make her upset so now she is going home...

I call my mom as soon as I hit a gas station. After I finish the call I grab some money from the glovebox and go inside to grab some snacks and drinks. I leave the gas station and get  back in my car. I drive for a while before I get home. When I get home I see mom, Jasmine, and Emma. "Belle!" Emma yells, and jumps in my arms. "Hey girlie, how are you?" I ask. She smiles really wide and points to two empty holes in her mouth. "The toof fairy brought me twenty dollars." She squeals. I smile lightly and Jasmine takes her from my arms. My mother gives me a hug and so does Jasmine. I see my mother and Jasmine give each other glances. "You know you will have to tell her." Jasmine says. My mom nods and then shows me her finger. On her ring finger there is a huge diamond ring. "I said yes." She smiles. I start to jump up and down and give her a big hug. "I'm so happy for you." I yell. I give her another hug and then get Emma and swing her around. "Now I have a question to ask you girls, so you better call Peyton. I call Peyton and my mom tells her the news. She immediately starts crying. "Will you girls be my bridesmaids?" My mother ask. All of us squeal a yes. After talking to Peyton I hang up and we all walk inside.

I throw myself on my bed and look around. I see the picture of Luke and I dancing in the skating bowl. Tears are on the edge of falling but I do not let them escape. I look at the picture and I take it and put it in my closet. I lay on my bed and just stare at the ceiling; something else I've been doing for a while now. There is a quiet knock on the door. "May I come in?" It's Jasmine. I allow her to come in and she gives me a hug. "How are you holding up?" She ask. I know what she is talking about so I just give her a simple answer. "I'm sorry that he did that, but I don't think he meant it. I didn't raise him like that." She says. I can see she's about to cry so I hug her. "It's not your fault. Don't blame yourself. We just aren't meant to be I guess." I say. She looks around and then looks at where the picture of me and Luke used to be. "Wasn't there a-" I immediately interrupt her, "No, just something stupid." I say. She gives a mhm and walks out.

I walk downstairs and go to the fridge. Mom, Jasmine, and Emma went dress shopping so it's just me, the house, and the fridge. That's not really a good combination. I grab cereal, Nutella, toast, some white choclate, Dr.Pepper, and some strawberries and start munching away. The door bell rings interrupting me and my white choclate that is still melting in my mouth. I open the door. "May I help yo-" I start choking on my choclate, because there he is standing all in his flesh. "What are you doing here Tre?" I glare from where he is standing. "Can we talk?" He pleads. I roll my eyes and allow him in. "I'm sorry. I never knew you were a good girl. I'm sorry Izzy. I let greed come in between us, but once I lost you I quit that dumb dumb game." I shook my head. It sounded exactly like what Luke said, but we all know what happened there. "Look I'm not asking us to be close, I just want us to be friends." I sigh a loud sigh, "Fine but you have to earn your trust back." He tried to hug me but I shake my head. "I think you should go to the library." He says. "Why?" I ask suspiciously. "Well I work there now, which I'm late. He mumbles some cuss words under his breath and then grabs my wrist. He puts me in his jesp without the top. My hair is everywhere by the time we get there. He jumps out and rushes inside leaving me in the dust. He soon comes back and drags me inside. I look around and woah the place has changed...the walls are not cream, they are rainbow. The shelves have been moved. Even Ms. Reed looks different. She seems happier. She walks down the stairs and gives me a hug. I give her a hug. "Do you like it?" She ask. My eyes shine. "I love it!" I say. I go to the back and see that the spot I used to have never changed. "A lot of kids have been coming and I thought it just needed to be more friendly." I touch the rainbow. It's so pretty. I grab a book and I sit in my spot. "Ahh ah ah." Tre says. "Excuse me?" I ask. "You have to sign that book out." I sigh get up and go to the desk. He looks at me shocked. "You- you- actually believed me?" He says laughing uncontrollably. I glare at him and put the book up and I walk out. "Wait!" He says calling after me. He chases me down and gives me the book. "I can't take it." I say. "Why not." "I have to go back to Marshall tonight and it's due in a week." I say. "How bout you bring it back in two weeks and we get Coffee?" He ask. "Mhmm I'll think about it." I say, and I run off to my car. I drive off and head home.

"Be safe please," my mother says. I laugh silently and roll my eyes. "No mom I'm going to go down this road at 90 miles per hour." She shakes her head. Emma grabs my legs and begs me to bring her with me. "Pweeeasseeee, it's no fun here." She says stomping her foot. I get down to her level and hug her. "I'll be back." I say. She gives me a hug, "pwomise." "Promise," I say. I give Jasmine a hug. "Watch my boy for me please." She whispers so low that I could hardly hear her. I nod my head and jump in my car and drive off. I start flipping through the stations nothing but static, so I play my recent CD. I know it's the CD that Luke gave me, but sometimes everyine has weak moments. 

I get back to the mad house. I see that Luke's car is there. I pull up my big girl panties and walk in with confidence. When I enter the door everyone and I mean everyone including the animals jump on me. I see Luke back off and just watch me and my friends. Finally, after everything and everyone settles Luke speaks. "How are they?" He ask. I didn't mean to start anything but what he asked me just blew my top. "Maybe if you would go visit them you could tell for yourself. That's your family Luke, you can't just leave them like your dad did." I snap. You can see the fire in his eyes. " YOU know nothing about my dad Isabella. You think you know everything, but you don't. You don't understand. You will never understand. Why do you have to be like this?" He starts stepping closer to me. I scoff, "me why do I  have to be like his. What about you. You were the one who just let me go. Do NOT say this is my fault. I get closer in his face. His eyes are burning. You can see the steam come from his ears. "You wouldn't fudging understand!" He yells. "Then you don't know me that well because Luke anything that does with you or even us, I would understand. You think I would just let us go like that?"  He keeps coming  closer and closer until I'm against the wall. He leans in real close to my ear and whispers, "play with fire you get burnt." I shiver slightly when his lips nip my ear. He looks me right in the eyes. "Muffin." After he says that he turns on his heels and walks out slamming the door.
